Idris Elba’s Daughter Didn’t Speak to Him for “Three Weeks” After Not Landing Role in His New Film
Idris Elba stars in his new movie Beast as a father trying to protect his two daughters from a lion during a trip to South Africa. As it turns out, his real-life offspring Isan auditioned to play one of his daughters in the film and then gave him the cold shoulder for “about three weeks” after failing to land the role. During a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, Elba was asked about how his experience as a father informed his performance in the movie. “Interestingly enough, my daughter auditioned for this role. Sparta Announce New Self-Titled Album, Share “Mind Over Matter” and “Spiders”: Stream
Jim Ward has a new Sparta album on the way. The self-titled project arrives in full on October 14th, while the first single “Mind Over Matter” and its B-side, “Spiders,” are out now. Forged in the aftermath of Ward’s other band At the Drive-In way back in 2001, Sparta were long overdue for an eponymous album. In a press release, Ward described the record (and its name) as a “fresh slate.” “This new record is a starting point for the band, with absolute love and respect for the last 20 years — it was time to scrap some things, release some baggage and forge a new path,” the singer-guitarist said. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off Spinoff in the Works from Cobra Kai Creators
A spinoff of John Hughes’ 1986 classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off titled Sam and Victor’s Day Off is in the works at Paramount Pictures, as first reported by Deadline. It will center around the titular valets from the original movie who take Cameron’s father’s 1961 Ferrari for a joyride. The attendants in Ferris Bueller didn’t have names, but were played by Richard Edson and Larry “Flash” Jenkins, the latter of whom died in 2019. The movie will be the first spinoff from one of Hughes’ directorial efforts. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off was one of the 1980s auteur’s most successful films, grossing $70 million in the year it was released. It notably launched the careers of several members of its cast, including Matthew Broderick (who played Ferris), Alan Ruck (Cameron), and Jennifer Grey (Jeannie). ...

Lindsey Buckingham has announced a North American tour for Fall 2022 in support of his 2021 self-titled album. The solo run kicks off on October 26th in Bristol, Tennessee, and will take Buckingham through cities like Louisville, Kentucky; Huntington, New York; Annapolis, Maryland; and more before wrapping in Augusta, Georgia on November 19th. Sex Education classes are almost back in session, and this time around, Dan Levy will be teaching a class of his own. Netflix has announced that the Schitt’s Creek star has joined the cast of the series for Season 4. The addition of the breakout comedian is just one of many changes in the Sex Ed world. When the show last ended, Moordale Secondary was shut down, Maeve (Emma Mackey) accepted an offer to study in the United States, and pretty much every star of the show became a breakout actor in their own right. In Season 4, Levy plays Thomas Molloy, a famous author who serves as Maeve’s US course tutor. In an apparent bid to save money on residuals, Warner Bros. Discovery has been removing content from HBO Max. The process began earlier this month with the unceremonious removal of dozens of HBO Max original series and movies such as Vinyl and Camping, and An American Pickle; earlier this week, another 36 titles disappeared from the platform. Now, in an especially egregious affront to parents of young children, WBD has removed over 200 classic Sesame Street episodes from HBO Max’s library, without warning. HBO Max became the exclusive home of Sesame Street in 2019; in addition to producing new episodes, the streamer hosts the show’s 50-plus-year library.
