Amidst his ongoing “This Is Not a Drill Tour,” Roger Waters sat down with CNN’s Michael Smerconish to discuss the overly political themes and messages presented at his concert. Smerconish began the interview by asking Waters why he labeled President Joe Biden a “war criminal.” “Well, he’s fueling the war in the Ukraine,” the former Pink Floyd member responded. “That is a huge crime. Why won’t the United States of America encourage [Volodymyr] Zelensky to negotiate, obviating the need for this horrific, horrendous war?” When Smerconish pointed out that Waters was “blaming the party who got invaded,” Waters countered by criticizing NATO for forcing Russia’s hand. “Well, any war, when did it start? What you need to do is look at the history, and you can say, ‘Well, it started on this day.’ Yo...
Seated at a piano made of thorns in the middle of a rapt sold-out audience at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Lady Gaga confessed that there was a point in her life when she wasn’t sure if she’d ever make it back to a stage like this again. Indeed, a lot has happened to both Gaga and the world since she was last able to tour. “Severe physical pain” due to fibromyalgia forced her to postpone and eventually cancel the final leg of her Joanne World Tour in 2018. The “Chromatica Ball” stadium tour (grab tickets here), originally slated for 2020, was postponed twice for COVID concerns. The release date for the album she was planning to tour in support of, Chromatica, was briefly pushed back due to the pandemic, too. Or as the singer/actress/performance artist herself put it with a mix of humor, r...
Kevin Federline, Britney Spears’ ex-husband with whom she shares two children, said in a new interview with The Daily Mail that their kids have been avoiding their mother and are embarrassed by her frequent postings of nude selfies. In a sprawling interview, Federline said Spears’ sons, 15-year-old Jayden and 16-year-old Sean, have chosen not to see their mom in recent months and didn’t attend her recent wedding to model Sam Asghari. While he declined to go into details, Federline said the boys grew uncomfortable with what they witnessed during their visits in recent years. “There were a lot of things going on that I didn’t feel comfortable with,” Federline said. At the same time, Federline pointed to Spears’ Instagram — namely, the nude pictures she’s taken to posting on her account — as ...
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have canceled the remainder of their UK and European tour dates in light of a “personal health crisis” that’s inflicted their lead singer, Stu Mackenzie. In a statement posted to Instagram on August 5th, Mackenzie revealed that he suffers from Crohn’s Disease and explained that a recent flare up has required him to return home to Australia for “urgent treatment.” “For the past decade or so I’ve dealt with Crohn’s Disease the best I can,” Mackenzie said. “It’s a miracle we haven’t cancelled any shows in the past. But right now, my health is in really bad shape and I need to get home for some urgent treatment.” Mackenzie continued: “I’ve always kept my struggles with Crohn’s private. I guess I didn’t want to be defined by it. And maybe I’m not defined by it...

Judith Durham, singer of the Australian pop band The Seekers, has died at age 79. According to Universal Music Australia, Durham’s cause of death was chronic lung disease. “Our lives are changed forever losing our treasured lifelong friend and shining star,” the company said in a statement. “Her struggle was intense and heroic — never complaining of her destiny and fully accepting its conclusion. Her magnificent musical legacy Keith, Bruce and I are so blessed to share.” Born July 3rd, 1943 in Essendon, Victoria, Judith Mavis Cock studied classical piano at the University of Melbourne Conservatorium. Also a classically trained vocalist, she performed blues, gospel, and jazz pieces before cutting her eponymous debut EP in 1963. Advertisement Related Video Soon after, Durham joined Atho...
The OG Queen of Pop has officially given her blessing to Queen Bey. Madonna and Beyoncé have teamed up for the aptly titled, “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix).” As the first single from Renaissance, “Break My Soul” introduced us to Beyoncé’s new disco-influenced, club-ready era. It makes total sense, then, that the “Queens Remix” would center on a sample of “Vogue,” Madonna’s 1990 classic that helped introduce Ballroom culture to a greater audience. It doesn’t appear that Madonna offered any new vocals to “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix),” but rather gave Beyoncé permission to use “Vogue”‘s famous piano riff (which is important, given recent discourse surrounding Beyoncé’s failure to secure permission before sampling songs). Of course, Beyoncé wouldn’t just sample “Vogue” withou...

Four people have been arrested and charged as part of an alleged phone theft ring at Lollapalooza. According to CWB Chicago, a man brought the scheme to the attention of police at the festival after realizing his phone had been stolen by three young people in the crowd. As undercover officers monitored the situation, they reportedly witnessed the trio — Ximena Rodriguez, 24, Juan Ramirez, 25, and Arceli Quinones, 31 — steal another attendee’s phone. In order to steal the phone, prosecutors say that one woman began grinding on a man in front of the Perry Stage while a man took the victim’s phone and passed it to a second woman, who then placed it inside of a fanny pack. A lot can happen in eight years, but Hulu’s upcoming drama Tell Me Lies will attempt to condense it all into ten episodes. Today, you can watch the official trailer for the streamer’s upcoming drama-romance series ahead of its premiere this September. And here’s the kicker: Emma Roberts is an executive producer. Based on Carola Lovering’s bestselling 2018 novel of the same name, Tell Me Lies documents the rocky love story between Lucy Albright and Stephen DeMarco (Grace Van Patten and Jackson White). The pair meet during Lucy’s freshman year of college, with their relationship starting off like any other — until, as the show’s description reads, “they quickly fall into an addictive entanglement that will permanently alter not only their lives, but the lives of everyone aroun...

For our favorite new songs from emerging artists, check out our Spotify New Sounds playlist. This week, The Killers return to their synth rock roots with “boy.” Nearly a year from the release of their introverted seventh studio album Pressure Machine, The Killers have returned to their synth-heavy arena rock with their new track, “boy.” Back when they debuted the song last month at Madrid’s Mad Cool Festival, Brandon Flowers told Consequence that “boy” is a song that they’ve had in their back pockets for a while, and now it was time for it to see the light of day. Within “boy” are traces of every Killers alb...
