Constance Wu Details Suicide Attempt in Return to Social Media

Constance Wu has returned to Twitter after a three-year mental health hiatus, revealing that the backlash to her series of “careless” tweets in 2019 led to a suicide attempt. She also announced a book called Making a Scene, which she wrote to “help people talk about the uncomfortable stuff in order to understand it, reckon with it, and open pathways to healing.” “I haven’t been on social media in almost 3 years,” Wu wrote in a note posted to Twitter. “Tbh, I’m a little scared, but I’m dipping my toe back in to say I’m here and while I was gone I wrote a book called Making a Scene. This next part is hard to talk about… but I was afraid of coming back on social media because I almost lost my life from it: 3 years ago when I made careless tweets about the renewal of my TV show, it ignited out...

Senate Candidate John Fetterman Hires Snooki to Troll Opponent Dr. Oz: “Jersey Will Not Forget You”

Despite living in New Jersey for several decades, Dr. Oz is running for the open Pennsylvania seat on the US Senate — something Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman, his opponent, has strong feelings about. To make his qualms clear, Fetterman enlisted a little help from the Queen of New Jersey, Nicole “Snooki” LaValle, to remind Dr. Oz to never forget where he comes from. “Hey, Mehmet, this is Nicole ‘Snooki,’” the reality star says in a Cameo video shared on social media Thursday, adding that she heard Dr. Oz “moved from New Jersey to Pennsylvania to look for a new job.” “Personally, I don’t know why anyone would want to leave Jersey, ’cause it’s like the best place ever, and we’re all hot messes, but I want to say best of luck to you. I know you’re away from home and you...

30 Years Ago, Megadeth’s Countdown to Extinction Tackled Politics and Personal Demons

By the start of the ’90s, Megadeth were on track to dominate heavy metal. After all, 1990’s Rust in Peace garnered stellar sales and press reviews, with the corresponding Clash of the Titans tour — featuring Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax — further bolstering their hegemony. Plus, as he confessed to Guitar School in 1993, Megadeth mastermind Dave Mustaine was finally getting “stone sober” after years of addiction to marijuana, cocaine, cigarettes, heroin, and other vices. At the same time, however, the meteoric rise of grunge meant that metal was becoming “the red-headed stepchild of the music industry” (as Mustaine postulated to Goldmine in 2012). Kevin Spacey Pleads Not Guilty to Five Sexual Assault Charges in UK Court

Kevin Spacey pled not guilty to five sexual assault charges at a court hearing in London today (July 14th), Deadline reports. A trial date has been set for June 6th, 2023. In May, Metropolitan Police charged the Oscar-winning actor with four counts of sexual assault and one of “causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.” The alleged assaults occurred between 2005-2013 in London and nearby Gloucester county against three men who are now aged in their 30s and 40s, and Spacey has repeatedly denied the accusations. The judge in today’s hearing also continued Spacey’s unconditional bail, which was granted last month. Back in 2019 in Massachusetts, Spacey was charged with indecent assault and battery in connection to a July 2016 incident involving an 18-...

Christopher Meloni Bares All in Peloton Ad Celebrating National Nude Day: Watch

Christopher Meloni appears in the buff — and boy, do we mean buff — in a new Peloton ad celebrating National Nude Day. “Some people think the way I work out is strange,” the Law and Order star says, lawlessly naked except for a blur protecting the identity of his little perp. The minute-long commercial shows the the 61-year-old lifting, stretching, crunching his abs, and running out in public, much to the approval of a dog, for some reason. Is this clip weird? Yes, unfathomably weird. But you’re not here to weigh the merits of a Peloton subscription, you’re here to see some assets. Take a peek below. In 2021, Meloni rejoined the Law and Orderverse, reprising his role as Detective Stabler in the SVU spinoff Organized Crime. The year before, he appeare...

Jello Biafra Says Upcoming Dead Kennedys Reissue Was “Intentionally” Done Behind His Back

In September, Dead Kennedys are releasing a 40th anniversary reissue of their debut album, Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables, but former frontman Jello Biafra isn’t happy about it. In a message posted to the website for his label Alternative Tentacles. the DK co-founder claimed he was “intentionally” left in the dark about the project. “LISTEN BEFORE YOU BUY!! This was done almost totally behind my back. Intentionally,” wrote Biafra, hasn’t been part of the Kennedys lineup since the group first broke up in 1986 (Ron “Skip” Greer has been lead vocalist since 2008). “It was not ‘overseen by the band,’ as their press release claims. I was deliberately locked out. Not one person from the band or the labels reached out to me at all. Nor did Chris Lord-Alge, who did the remix. I guess he didn’t...

Galadriel Has a Vision of Doom in New Trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Watch

The sky turns red and flames lick the top of massive pinnacle in the second teaser trailer for Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. It’s a vision of doom, experienced by Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), though whether it’s also an early glimpse of Mount Doom remains to be seen. Not everyone seems to believe her. “You have fought long enough, Galadriel. Put up your sword,” Elrond (Robert Amayo) says in the trailer. “It is over.” “You have not seen what I have seen,” she replies. And when he counters, “I have seen my share,” she repeats herself slowly, as if biting off every word: “You have not seen what I have seen.” Advertisement Related Video Elsewhere in the trailer we get our first glimpse of Isildur (Maxim Baldry), as well as other denizens of the...

Disturbed Return with “Hey You,” First New Song in Four Years: Stream

Disturbed are back with a new single, “Hey You,” marking their first new original song in four years. The multiplatinum metal band has also revealed that it will release a new as-yet-untitled album later this year. While Disturbed have recorded notable cover songs in the past, including their smash-hit version of Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence,” it is very evident in the opening seconds of the new song is that it’s NOT a cover of the iconic Pink Floyd hit of the same name. “Hey You” harkens back to Disturbed’s massive debut 2000 album, The Sickness, with singer David Draiman delivering his signature staccato vocals over a crushing Dan Donegan guitar riff in the verses. The chorus showcases the more melodic side of Disturbed, while still maintaining the overall heaviness of t...

Thom Yorke Shares New Version of Radiohead’s “Bloom” for Greenpeace: Stream

Thom Yorke has shared a solo version of Radiohead’s “Bloom” for a new Greenpeace ad created for Shark Awareness Day titled “The Lonely Shark.” Clocking in at under two minutes, the reworking pares down The King of Limbs cut to a piano-driven track as Yorke’s haunting vocals are used to soundtrack the depiction of two sharks that are separated when one of them is ensnared by a fishing boat. “In the last 50 years the global shark population has plummeted by 70%,” reads the video’s description. “Sharks are being wiped out by overfishing for profit. But our oceans can recover if we protect them.” In March, Yorke shared a new solo track called “5.17” for the soundtrack to the sixth and final season of Peaky Blinders, which was followed by “That’s How Horses Are” one month later. Judge Rejects Amber Heard’s Claim of Jury Fraud in Johnny Depp Defamation Trial

A judge has rejected Amber Heard’s motion for a new trial, ruling that a mix-up between a 52-year-old man and his 77-year-old father did not constitute jury fraud. The jury awarded Johnny Depp $10.35 million in his defamation lawsuit, and Heard has not yet filed an appeal, possibly because Judge Penny Azcarate ordered her to pay an $8.3 million bond before any appeal could go forward. Instead, she’s focused her legal efforts on this father and son. While the identities of the two men have been redacted, they live together, and publicly available information suggests that they also share a name, although it’s unknown if one is a “Jr.” or “II.” But the 77-year-old was summoned for jury duty, and instead the 52-year-old showed up, ultimately getting enrolled on the jury. Heard’s leg...
