Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Curator Charged in Conspiracy to Sell Don Henley’s Stolen Handwritten “Hotel California” Lyrics

Three men, including a curator for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, were charged on Tuesday, July 12th in an alleged conspiracy to sell Don Henley’s stolen lyrics to multiple Eagles classics, including “Hotel California,” “Life in the Fast Lane,” and “New Kid In Town.” According to TMZ, over 100 pages of Henley’s notes were stolen in the 1970s by an author hired to write a biography on The Eagles. In 2005, the author sold the notes, which were valued at more than $1 million, to rare books dealer Glenn Horowitz, who then sold them to Rock Hall curator Craig Inciardi and Edward Kosinski. The three men subsequently attempted to sell the manuscripts through Christie’s and Sotheby’s auction houses, and even worked to fabricate ownership records in order to “coerce” Henley, who reported them...

2022 Emmy Nominations: Succession, Abbott Elementary, Pam & Tommy, Squid Game and More Score Big

In the era of so much TV, each Emmy Awards nominations morning brings with it a degree of chaos. In 2022, that remains consistent, though there are familiar faces returning to the dance as well as fresh voices. As many predicted, the third season of Succession (which dominated in 2020) was the nominations count leader with 25, including what feels like a metric ton of acting nominations across nearly all categories. Meanwhile, Netflix’s three big plays in the drama series category — Ozark, Stranger Things, and Squid Game — didn’t perform outrageously well. All did secure Outstanding Drama Series nods, though, and with 14 nominations for Squid Game and 13 each for Ozark and Stranger Things, that’s nothing to sneeze at. Apple TV+’s Severance (Consequence‘s best show of 2022 so far) also pick...

Ezra Furman has released the rousing new single “Lilac and Black” from her upcoming sixth album, All of Us Flames. Stream it below. “Lilac and Black” is Furman’s empowering call to arms for the trans community, reflecting on the toll of their embattled existence while rallying for a unified front against cis bigots. “I try to keep count, try to guess the amount/ Who’ll make it through the coming year,” she sings solemnly, before launching defiantly into lyrics like, “The streets of this city’s what we’re asking for/ And we’ll take ’em if they’re not given.” Furman’s uncompromising delivery allows her to triumph over her own personal trials, and she channels that determination into bringing others together behind the same defenses. In a statement, she shared, “I’ve started to think of us tr...

Circle Jerks Celebrate Group Sex and Wild in the Streets in New York City: Recap, Photos + Video

The legendary Circle Jerks finally made their way to New York City on Thursday night (July 7th) for a two-night stand at Irving Plaza following a number of pandemic-related postponements. The pioneering hardcore-punk band more than made up for the delay, delivering a 33-song set while headlining a bill that featured fellow veteran acts 7Seconds and Negative Approach. Originally, Circle Jerks had planned to hit the road in 2020 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their iconic debut album, Group Sex. After playing a smattering of shows in 2021, the band kicked off a proper North American run in February, only to have it curtailed when frontman Keith Morris contracted COVID, forcing the postponement of the remainder of the tour, including the NYC dates. In addition to founding Circle Jerks, ...

Amy Winehouse Biopic in the Works from Fifty Shades of Grey Director Sam Taylor-Johnson

Many have tried and many have failed to tell Amy Winehouse’s life story, but it looks like Fifty Shades of Grey director Sam Taylor-Johnson may be the first filmmaker to get a proper Winehouse biopic off the ground. According to Deadline, Taylor-Johnson is spearheading Back to Black, a new film about the late singer, for Studiocanal. The script to Back to Black was written by Matt Greenhalgh, while Alison Owen, Debra Hayward, and Tracey Seaward serve as producers. No star has been cast yet, but Deadline reports that Winehouse’s estate has given the project its blessing. Winehouse has inspired numerous projects since her tragic death in 2011. At one point, Swedish actress Noomi Rapace was set to portray the artist in a biopic, but it never came to fruition. Then, la...
