Megadeth Name James LoMenzo as New Permanent Bassist

Megadeth have officially named James LoMenzo as their new permanent bassist. The veteran metal musician had already joined the legendary thrash band’s touring lineup as of last year, and now he can call himself a full-fledged member. LoMenzo essentially replaces founding bassist David Ellefson, who was ousted from Megadeth last year after an embarrassing online sexual encounter with a young woman. Testament’s Steve DiGiorgio was called in to re-record bass parts on the band’s upcoming album, The Sick, The Dying and The Dead, but LoMenzo was recruited to join the band on their co-headlining “Metal Tour of the Year” with Lamb of God, which just completed its second leg. This marks LoMenzo’s second stint with Megadeth, after being a member from 2006 through 2010. He played on the albums Unite...

Top Gun: Maverick Used A.I. to Recreate Val Kilmer’s Voice

Tuned-in Top Gun fans know that Val Kilmer and his character Tom “Iceman” Kazansky have a few things in common, and perhaps their most notable similarity is the fact that in Top Gun: Maverick, both of them have lost the ability to speak due to cancer. Kilmer does, however, have one line of spoken dialogue in the new sequel, and it took some artificial intelligence to bring it to life. Kilmer — whose throat cancer treatment reduced his voice to a rasp back in 2014 — announced last year that he had partnered with the software company Sonantic to realistically recreate his old speaking voice for the documentary Val. Using hours and hours of audio, this process was used again for Kilmer’s appearance in Top Gun: Maverick. Sonantic used what they call a “voice engine” to teach the...

And I also see those of you out there who put on a cape for me, and that really does mean the world to me, because there’s nothing anybody can do about this. There’s nothing anybody can do to stop this hate, and so I question what my purpose is in even being here in front of you saying that this is...
