Donald Trump to Launch Streaming Platform for “Canceled Content” and “Non-Fake News”

Donald Trump is plotting his return to television. The former president’s company Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG) is currently building out a streaming service, which will be home to undoubtedly highbrow broadcasting like “canceled content” and “non-fake news.” Per The Hollywood Reporter, TMTG — which is led by CEO Devin Nunes — recently unveiled their mess of an S-1 filing, which attempts to outline their specific plans: “TMTG+ intends to offer programs including, but not limited to blue collar comedy, canceled shows, Trump-specific programming, faith-based shows, family entertainment, shows that embrace the Second Amendment, and news. TMTG intends to license, produce, and deliver news, sports, and non-woke entertainment content through this platform.” These plans sound ...

David Cronenberg Plays the Fleshy Hits in the Evocative, Squicky Crimes of the Future: Review

The Pitch: In a near-future world where pollution and technological advancement have led human beings to develop “Accelerated Evolution Syndrome” (i.e. the spontaneous development of new organs and bodily configurations), bodily modifications are the norm and pain is virtually a thing of the past. Save, it seems, for Saul Tenser (Viggo Mortensen), a celebrity performance artist whose gimmick is tattooing, then surgically (and publicly) removing, the new organs his body generates in elaborate showcases with his creative partner/probably-lover Caprise (Léa Seydoux). He lives a life of constant pain, one which no number of bio-technological devices — floating orchid-like beds that attach fleshy tentacles to his limbs, living high chairs that rock him as he eats breakfast so he can keep h...

The 2001 record will be released in full on July 8th via Reprise, and today, Young is previewing it with the song “Standing in the Light of Love.” Young and Crazy Horse recorded the aptly-named Toast at Toast Studios in San Francisco. In a statement, the musician writes that the album ended up being “so sad that [he] couldn’t put it out.” He explains: “I just skipped it and went on to do another album in its place. I couldn’t handle it at that time.” That next album would’ve been 2002’s Are You Passionate? “The music of Toast is about a relationship,” Young adds. “There is a time in many relationships that go bad, a time long ...

Taika Waititi’s Star Wars Film Targets 2023 Release

It’s been two and a half years since Lucasfilm closed its latest trilogy with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but during the annual Star Wars Celebration event at Anaheim Convention Center on Friday we got an update on the cinematic future of that galaxy far, far away. In an interview with Total Film, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that the next feature film will come from the cracked mind of Taika Waititi, and that they are targeting a release in 2023. Kennedy explained that it would come “not [in] 2023, but late 2023,” which makes sense, since the three latest movies — The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker, all landed in December. She added, “We haven’t locked anything in.” She didn’t offer any details about the plot, timel...

Bruce Hornsby Recruits Danielle Haim for “Days Ahead”: Stream

Bruce Hornsby has enlisted Danielle Haim on his new single “Days Ahead.” “Remember how we used to be/ Connection that our friends could see/ Remember when we tried to learn German/ I told you what I learned today/ That this all too shall pass away/ It sounded like a stale, stale sermon,” the two sing, with the Haim frontwoman mostly on backing vocals, before jumping into the track’s chorus. The song’s music video was self-directed by Hornsby during the pandemic. The lyrical narrative plays out with a feuding older couple who call an elaborate dollhouse home. Related Video “Days Ahead” is featured on the singer-songwriter’s new album ‘Flicted, which also dropped today in full via Hornsby’s very own Zappo Productions/Thirty Tigers. The 12-track LP follows 2019’s Absolute Zero and 2020’s Non-...

Michael Che “Doesn’t Have Any Plans” to Quit Saturday Night Live

The next season of Saturday Night Live is going to look a little different from what we’re used to, but not every one is leaving. Following the news earlier this month that Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson, and Kyle Mooney were all departing the show, Weekend Update anchor Michael Che said he “[doesn’t] have any plans to leave just yet.” “I think I’m staying,” Che told The Ringer’s Bill Simmons on his self-titled podcast. “I never know, it’s hard. Once the season’s over it’s best to not to make decisions like towards the end of the year because all you want to do is get out of there, you’ve had your fill. But August or September is usually a different story. I don’t have any plans to leave just yet.” Simmons did poke fun at Che’s indecisiveness, as the comedian has ...

Liam Gallagher Unveils New Solo Album C’MON YOU KNOW: Stream

Liam Gallagher has released his third solo album, C’MON YOU KNOW. Stream it below via Apple Music and Spotify. After a steady stream of singles including the Dave Grohl-assisted “Everything’s Electric,” “Better Days,” and the album’s title track, the former Oasis superstar finally rips the cover off songs that he’s been teasing since last fall, like “I Wish I Had More Power,” which he’s cheekily dedicated to his  brother and bandmate, Noel, saying: ‘It’s a naughty little tune, but it’s lovely.” His latest solo LP follows 2019’s Why Me? Why Not. and his 2017 debut As You Were. The Consequence review of C’MON YOU KNOW notes: “the record is far from a bad listening experience, but fans hoping to hear the beginning of a new era will have to wait. Fans simply excited for another crop of ro...

Cruel Country is the band’s follow-up to 2019’s Ode to Joy, and features lead single “Falling Apart (Right Now)” and “Tired of Taking It Out on You” among its sprawling twenty-one tracks. The two-disc studio set finds the indie rockers fully leaning into the country music rumblings that have followed them since their 1995 debut album A.M. “I think there’s been an assumption over the years that Wilco is some sort of country band,” frontman Jeff Tweedy wrote upon announcing the album. “There’s a lot of evidence to support that way of thinking about our band because there have been elements of country music in everything we’ve ever done. But to be honest, we’ve never been par...
