Last Friday, Pete Davidson took to the stage at Netflix Is a Joke: The Festival for a standup set in which the comedian publicly poked fun at the one-sided feud he’s found himself in with Kanye West. Now, Netflix has released a clip from the showcase, which you can watch below. “I’ve had a really weird year; I had an AIDS scare this year,” he deadpanned before quipping, “No, Kanye told me I had AIDS. And he’s a genius, so I was like, ‘Oh, fuck.’ I was like, ‘I better call my doctor, the guy who made College Dropout thinks I have AIDS.’” The Saturday Night Live star went on to bust out a pitch-perfect John Mulaney impression, claiming that the fellow comedian called him upon hearing the rumor in order to say, “AIDS? You should spread a rumor that he has polio!” Advertisement...
A$AP Rocky has finally released his single “D.M.B.” after teasing it for the better part of a year, but his more famous partner (and mother of his child) Rihanna takes the spotlight in the accompanying video. Watch it below. The self-proclaimed “ghetto love tale” depicts the many aspects of the celebrity couple’s relationship, whether they’re in the Bronx hanging out on fire escapes, getting their hair done together, or competing in a game of dice. And when it’s time to bail Rocky out of jail, Rihanna’s there every single time. Three minutes into the video, Rocky asks Rihanna “Marry me?” through his grill, to which she responds in kind with “I do.” Advertisement Related Video Co-produced by Rocky with Skepta, Shlohmo, Hector Delgado, and Kelvin Krash, the song features the Harlem rapper de...
There’s an argument to be made that Joss Whedon’s The Avengers is the most important superhero movie of the 21st century. The reasons are numerous, from its proof of concept that a crossover event on this scale could work, to its staggering box office success, to the now-vast media empire which would not exist had this one film fallen apart. The MCU began with Marvel literally using its entire catalog of characters to secure a massive loan to produce its own films, and while the early success of Iron Man and the other Phase 1 films was promising, that huge gamble was still largely dependent on The Avengers succeeding. And that wasn’t necessarily the safest of bets, given that despite Whedon being nerd royalty and an established screenwriter, script doctor, and TV director, the film was onl...
Sharon Van Etten has released her sixth studio album, We’ve Been Going About This All Wrong. Listen to the album below via Apple Music and Spotify. Van Etten recorded and engineered much of We’ve Been Going About This All Wrong herself in her home studio, co-producing the album with Daniel Knowles. She played guitar, synthesizers, piano, drum machine, wurlitzer, keys, and more on the LP, while Jorge Balbi contributed drums, Devon Hoff lent a hand on bass, and Charley Damski added extra synthesizers and guitars. Release day is especially exciting for LP6, since Van Etten didn’t release any singles for the album. “I wanted to approach this release differently, to engage my fans in an intentional way, in an effort to present the album as a whole body of work,” the artist explained i...
Arcade Fire have unleashed their new studio album. WE, the alt-rock collective’s sixth LP, is out now via Columbia. It marks the band’s first release since the departure of longtime band member Will Butler late last year. Win Butler and co. recorded WE across New Orleans, Texas, and Maine with Radiohead’s frequent studio go-to Nigel Godrich. The album includes the previously-released singles “The Lightning I, II” and “Unconditional I (Lookout Kid),” as well as a guest feature from Peter Gabriel. Arcade Fire originally planned to record their follow-up to 2017’s Everything Now in February 2020; of course, things didn’t go as planned. Instead of completing that project, Win Butler and multi-instrumentalist Régine Chassagne decided to change course and keep writing new music: “It was the...
A new era of Carly Rae Jepsen begins now. Check out the Canadian pop singer’s new single, “Western Wind,” produced by Rostam Batmanglij, along with its accompanying music video below. With slow-ringing synthesizers and beachy percussion, the single trades Jepsen’s trademark bubblegum pop for a serene mid-tempo number. Yet, with a classic singalong chorus, “Western Wind” stays true to Jepsen’s bright persona. It makes sense, then, that she’d debut the song on the desert stage at Coachella. “Western Wind” marks Jepsen’s first release since the 2020 holiday song “It’s Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries,” while her last proper album was 2019’s Dedicated. Bad Bunny first teased Un Verano Sin Ti with an online classified ad selling his Buggati. When fans dialed the phone number attached to the ad, the musician offered them a snippet of new music. The full project follows Bad Bunny’s 2020 record El Último Tour Del Mundo, a mammoth release that became the first all-Spanish-language album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and won the Grammy for Best Música Urbana Album. With 23 tracks to its name, Un Verano Sin Ti feels like the perfect follow-up for the Puerto Rican rapper’s fans to pore over. This summer, Bad Bunny will take Un Verano Sin Ti‘s songs on the road for a stadium tour of North and Sout...
Doja Cat has dropped a new song called “Vegas,” which serves as the lead single to the soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming biopic Elvis. Listen to the track below. As the first look at the Elvis soundtrack, “Vegas” follows Luhrmann’s grand tradition of pairing historical content with modern music. Doja Cat lives up to the challenge, sampling Elvis’ (nay, Big Mama Thornton’s) rock and roll classic “Hound Dog” for a moody rap song bemoaning a universal truth: men ain’t shit. “You ain’t nothing but a/ Dog? Player, I get it/ Fraud? Player, I get it/ I understand, I understand,” Doja spits, over boosted bass. Some things never change. The official Elvis soundtrack arrives June 24th, the same day as the film. The project, Luhrmann’s first since 2013’s The Great Gatsby, stars Au...

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has declined to press felony charges against the man who attacked Dave Chappelle on stage at the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday night. “After reviewing the evidence, prosecutors determined that while criminal conduct occurred, the evidence as presented did not constitute felony conduct,” a spokesperson for the department said in a statement provided to The Hollywood Reporter. “The District Attorney’s Office does not prosecute misdemeanor crimes within the city of Los Angeles.” Police say the man, 23-year-old Isaiah Lee, had a replica gun with a real knife inside. According to the Los Angeles Times, however, Lee did not use the weapon during the assault; it was inside a bag he was carrying. The case has been referred to the Los Ang...
