The Sex Pistols Rage Against “Terribly Boring” England in Extended Pistol Trailer: Watch

“England’s terribly boring. Nothing ever changes,” a young punk bemoans in the extended trailer for Pistol, Danny Boyle’s upcoming Sex Pistols series. Enter Johnny Rotten and company, whose “I am an antichrist/ I am an anarchist” lyrics simultaneously pioneered punk rock and triggered a moral panic across their, uh, beloved UK. The new trailer for the FX series tracks the formation of the band, as Thomas Brodie-Sangster’s Malcom McLaren concocts the idea for a group based not on talent, but on pure spunk. “Whether you can play is not the criteria,” McLaren says. “It’s whether you’ve got something to say.” Of course, Sex Pistols fans know their whole anarchist ethos was more bad boy posturing than anything, so when someone asks Anson Boon’s Rotten (born John Lydon) what, in fact, ...

Phoebe Bridgers Shares Personal Story and Says “Everyone Deserves” Access to Safe Abortions

After a leaked draft opinion revealed that the conservative majority of the Supreme Court is set to overturn Roe v. Wade, Phoebe Bridgers has shared her own experience while advocating for abortion rights. “I had an abortion in October of last year while I was on tour,” the singer-songwriter wrote on social media. “I went to Planned Parenthood where they gave me the abortion pill. It was easy. Everyone deserves that kind of access. Here’s a big list of places you can donate to right now.” She then directed fans to an article published by The Cut which includes a state-by-state breakdown of abortion rights organizations in states which would be most directly affected by the overturn of Roe v. Tyler Bates and Chelsea Wolfe on Creating the Dark, Funky X Soundtrack

The horror film fandom has been on the edge of its seat for X, director Ti West’s first full-length feature since his 2016 Western In a Valley of Violence. The A24 film is more than a love letter to the greatest horror films of all time — it paves a creative, innovative, and shocking path all of its own. The same can be said of its score, which was created in a collaboration between legendary horror composer Tyler Bates and goth rock queen Chelsea Wolfe, alongside composer/producer Ben Chisholm. X’s accompanying lush score is perfect for the envelope-pushing, star-studded film. Set in 1979, X tells the story of a group of aspiring filmmakers and stars (including Mia Goth, Jenna Ortega, Brittany Snow, and Kid Cudi) who head deep into rural Texas to create the ultimate porn film. Things take...

Win Butler Slams Greg Abbott: “If There’s a Hell, That Motherfucker’s Going There”

If you’re one of the left-leaning Texans infuriated by the purgatory that is Greg Abbott’s leadership, you’re not alone: Former Texan Win Butler recently chatted with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe about how his loathing of the conservative governor inspired Arcade Fire’s recent single “The Lightning II.” As the band’s frontman puts it not-so-lightly: “I don’t even believe in hell, but if there’s a hell, that motherfucker’s going there.” Butler, who spent a portion of his upbringing outside of Houston, explained that while he was working on the song, he thought of the Haitian migrants trying to seek refuge in the United States last fall. Although many of them made arduous journeys that took them from Haiti to Brazil, through Central America, and finally to the Rio Grande River that separates Mexi...

Taylor Swift to Screen and Discuss All Too Well Short Film at Tribeca Film Festival

The Tribeca Film Festival announced the lineup for its 2022 Talks today, and among the Hollywood royalty on the bill lies capital-D Director Taylor Swift, who will be screening and discussing the making of All Too Well: The Short Film, which she wrote, directed, produced, and appeared in. Premiered last November, All Too Well: The Short Film followed the release of the 10-minute version of the fan-favorite Swift song, which has long been interpreted to delve into her ill-fated relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal. Much like the unabridged version’s revealing lyrics — “I’ll get older, but your lovers stay my age” proved especially biting — Swift’s visual was equally meticulous. The artist cast 19-year-old Sadie Sink and 30-year-old Dylan O’Brien to play the couple, and the ...

Kim Kardashian Wore Marilyn Monroe’s Dress to the Met Gala

In the days leading up to the Met Gala, Reddit sleuths predicted Kim Kardashian would wear a form-fitting dress made famous by Marilyn Monroe. On Monday night, Kardashian proved them right by walking the red carpet in a historic gown worn by the Hollywood icon. Worn by Monroe on May 19th, 1962 while singing “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy at Madison Square Garden, the Jean Louis-designed dress originally cost $12,000 and was so tight Monroe had to be sewn into it prior to her performance. In November 2016, the sparkling flesh-colored gown was acquired from Julien’s Auctions by Ripley’s for a record-setting $4.8 million. It’s up for debate whether the gown fits this year’s theme, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.” The Met Gala invite asked attendees to embod...

Better Call Saul Recap: There’s Proving and Then There’s Knowing

[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for Better Call Saul Season 6 Episode 4, “Hit and Run.”] Case Summary After last week’s seismic installment, Episode 4 of Better Call Saul was a bit more easygoing, even if things grow more and more uneasy for everyone. As the old saying goes, it’s not paranoia if someone is actually out to get you, and while things actually do seem to be going pretty well for Kim Wexler and Saul Goodman, attorneys-at-law, Kim at least is not sleeping easy these days. The centerpiece scam this time focused on Jimmy and Kim’s ongoing campaign to ruin Howard Hamlin’s reputation, which pays off last week’s key-copying adventure. While a blissfully ignorant Howard sits down for therapy, Jimmy uses his duplicate key for Howard’s car for a wild little bit of sketch...
