Our Track by Track feature gives artists the opportunity to share the inspiration and stories behind each song on their latest release. Today, Kae Tempest takes us behind the inspiration for their new album, The Line is a Curve. British multi-hyphenate artist Kae Tempest is back with their fourth album, The Line Is a Curve. Simultaneously sensitive and grounded, the album is as sonically dazzling as it is vulnerable. Their first release since 2019’s Rick Rubin-produced The Book of Traps and Lessons (and their first since coming out as non-binary), The Line Is a Curve shows Tempest overcoming overwhelming anxiety and self-doubt, their undeniably unique creative voice shining through. “For the last couple of records,” Tempest tells Consequence, “I wanted to disappear completely from the...

For those times when a single thumbs up just doesn’t cut it, Netflix now has you covered. The streamer has begun rolling out a new two thumbs up rating option, allowing users to indicate the movies and TV shows they really love. As Netflix tells it, the new two thumbs up feature — which winks at the trademark “two thumbs up” seal of approval from movie critic duo Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert — will give them even more insight into user preferences, further refining their content recommendations. Beginning this week, Netflix subscribers will start seeing the two thumbs up option alongside the existing thumbs up and thumbs down buttons. Two thumbs up will send a stronger signal to Netflix’s recommendation algorithm than just one. For example, if you give Squid Game two thumbs up, you can...
New SKID ROW singer Erik Grönwall has uploaded a video of him playing an acoustic cover version of GUNS N’ ROSES‘ “Nightrain” with his longtime friend Philip Näslund, recorded in SKID ROW‘s dressing room prior to one of the band’s performances as the support act on SCORPIONS‘ Las Vegas residency. In a message accompanying the YouTube release of the video, Erik wrote: “My buddy Philip flew in to Las Vegas to check out the SKID ROW show and we just had to jam a bit. “I won’t always be able to give you the full studio experience and that’s why I started this unplugged playlist. I want to be able to release music on this channel even when I’m on the road. “Philip and I went to high school together and started our fir...
In an interview with Monsters, Madness And Magic, former MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson was asked to name the most difficult song in his catalog for him to perform live. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “There’s songs… They’re all hard if you play ’em right, is the truth, because they’re fast. There’s a lot of muscular intensity. You can’t just sort of phone it in. You’ve really gotta warm up. And you’ve kind of gotta be warmed up and have a lot of your endurance in place; you can’t have just been on vacation and pick your bass up and rip through the tunes. It requires dexterity and everything. So ‘Holy Wars’ can be difficult to play. When we had it at the end of the set, it was easier to play ’...

To quote David Mamet’s Romance, “Uh, what the fuck?” The film director and Pulitzer-prize winning playwright claimed in a conversation with Fox News’ Life, Liberty & Levin that teachers are “inclined” towards “pedophilia.” Mamet, whose plays include Glengarry Glen Ross and American Buffalo, and who was nominated for Academy Awards for his screenplays for The Verdict and Wag the Dog, was on the program to promote his new book Recessional: The Death of Free Speech and the Cost of a Free Lunch. “We have to take back control,” he said. “If there’s no community control of the schools, what we have is kids being not only indoctrinated but groomed in a very real sense by people who are — whether they know it or not — sexual predators. Are they abus...
