Porridge Radio are gearing up to release a new album next month, and today they’ve shared the latest single, “The Rip,” and its accompanying music video. Meant to combine the “massive pop” of Charli XCX with the instrumentation of bands like Slothrust or Deftones, “The Rip” was the last song to be completed for Waterslide, Diving Board, Ladder to the Sky after lead singer Dana Margolin took a few years to write the lyrics. Opening with new wave synths, “The Rip” combines 80s pop with shoegaze, as Margolin bares her soul about losing grip on a relationship. “You’re all that I need,” she screams. “The back of my head/ The back of my hands/ I threw it away before it went bad.” Advertisement Related Video “At the beginning, it was a song about a power dynamic where I was in control, by the end...

SUM 41 frontman Deryck Whibley, whose band performed a cover of LINKIN PARK‘s “Faint” with Mike Shinoda at the 2018 edition of the Reeding and Leeds festivals, was asked in a new interview with “The Jasta Show” if he would ever consider joining LINKIN PARK as the replacement for the late Chester Bennington. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I think that’s an impossible task; I think those are impossible shoes to fill. I don’t know if they’re ever gonna do anything. I have no idea what that’s gonna look like or who that could be.” In response to host Jamey Jasta‘s comment that Deryck‘s vocal style would be a good fit with LINKIN PARK‘s music, Whibley said: “I’ll take that compli...

HIM’s VILLE VALO Announces ‘Neon Noir’ Solo Album, 2023 North American Tour

HIM mastermind Ville Valo will release a new single, “Loveletting”, on April 8 under the VV banner. “Loveletting” is taken from VV‘s forthcoming debut album, “Neon Noir”. Ville explains: “As fun as the funeral rites for HIM were, it took me more than a few moons to lick my wounds in the shadow of the Heartagram and come up with an excuse to strum and hum again. Eventually, I decided to put a leash on my beloved black dog and we started howling together instead of barking at each other. That’s how ‘Loveletting’ was born.” “Loveletting” will be made available across all digital platforms from midnight (local time) tonight. An official video clip will follow tomorrow at 11 a.m. EDT. “Neon Noir” is ...

See APOCALYPTICA’s Music Video For ‘I’ll Get Through It’ Feat. BLACK SABBATH’s GEEZER BUTLER

The song, written for the band by American award-winning songwriter Diane Warren, features Franky Perez — guest vocalist in APOCALYPTICA‘s 2015 record “Shadowmaker” — as well as Geezer Butler of BLACK SABBATH on bass guitar. The song was born out of a visit Geezer and Franky paid to their friend Diane, who had already written the track “Not Strong Enough” for APOCALYPTICA, included in their 2010 record “7th Symphony”. “Franky and I were visiting my friend, Diane Warren, at her studio,” comments Geezer. “She played us this song, saying that she thought it would work well with Franky‘s v...

SpaceXXX: Elon Musk Reportedly Denied Entry to Berlin Sex Club

Elon Musk has been on a tour of Berlin’s sex clubs, but Twitter’s largest shareholder may wish he had an edit button for a recent night out. Musk tweeted that he “refused to enter” the highly exclusive, sexually permissive techno nightclub Berghain, but according to reports in Vice, The Sun, and users on Reddit, he may have actually been denied entry. Musk has been in Germany to open the new Gigafactory, Europe’s first Tesla manufacturing facility. On Friday, he hit up the fetish and sex club KitKat, which uses as its motto, “Do what you want but stay in communication,” and which boasts a strict dress code that calls for either leather, latex, lingerie, fancy dress, swimming gear, superhero outfits, or nudity. It’s unclear which of those Musk chose; thankfully, pictures aren’t al...

Metal Lords Review: Game of Thrones’ D.B. Weiss Delivers A Light Comedy About Heavy Metal

The Pitch: Heavy metal, with its knowingly ridiculous embrace of deafening volumes and over-the-top violent imagery, and predominantly young male audience, has been fertile territory for comedy since This Is Spinal Tap. And over the last few decades, some enduring comedies have irreverently paid tribute to hard rock bands and the adolescents who love them, including School of Rock, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, and Detroit Rock City. Screenwriter D.B. Weiss, best known as the co-creator and co-showrunner of Game of Thrones, has brought us a potential new addition to that canon with Metal Lords. In 2019, Weiss and his Game of Thrones creative partner David Benioff inked a $200 million deal to produce films and series for Netflix. And while some of Benioff and Weiss’s more ambitious ...

They Seek My Head – END BOSS

RATING: 8/10 Thanks to the undeniable fact that big riffs and a touch of the blues are always going to resonate with a lot of people, there is unlikely to ever be a shortage of stoner-friendly, sludgy metal bands. That’s good news, of course, but the future would look even brighter if a fraction of those bands had END BOSS‘s charm and bowel-rattling power. “They Seek My Head” doesn’t fuck about: eight songs, 33 minutes, lots and lots of giant, distorted riffs. But rather than conforming to any previously established formula, commendable or otherwise, this New Zealand quartet have found their own unique and mesmerizing brew. As ever, it’s all in the songwriting. Opener “Heart of the Sickle” fulfils the fuzzed-up, lumbering brief, but vocalist ...

TOMAS HAAKE Is Open To Releasing Official MESHUGGAH Book: ‘That’s A Good Idea’

In a new interview with Australia’s “Scars And Guitars” podcast, MESHUGGAH drummer Tomas Haake was asked about the possibility of him and his bandmates writing an official book about their journey so far. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “Oh, man. Yeah. That’s a good idea, actually. Someone actually asked Mårten [Hagström, MESHUGGAH guitarist] about this a few years back, and Mårten‘s initial kind of response was, ‘No. Why would we? We never did anything? There’s nothing to write about.’ And then his close friend who’s really intimately familiar with what we’ve actually done over the last 20 years or so, 30 years, he looked at Mårten, like, ‘What the hell are you talking about? You’ve got this t...
