The Pitch: Evelyn Wang (Michelle Yeoh) has lived a life of quiet, overwhelmed lament. There are so many things she could have done, so many hers she could have been. Instead, she’s a middle-aged owner of a failing laundromat, with a miserable husband gunning for divorce (Ke Huy Quan’s Weymond), a withdrawn daughter (Stephanie Hsu’s Joy), and an increasingly frail father (James Hong’s Gong Gong) who doesn’t yet know that his granddaughter is gay. It gets worse: It’s tax season, and their unsympathetic IRS auditor (Jamie Lee Curtis‘ Deirdre) is breathing down their necks. As if that weren’t complicated enough, the IRS office becomes a battleground for the fate of the multiverse as Evelyn learns that she’s the only one who can stop a multi-dimensional agent of chaos named Jobu Tupaki fro...
In the teaser for his upcoming Peacock series Killing It, Craig Robinson is living in the lap of luxury, but the newly-released trailer shows the long road it took him to get there. Taking a look back at his days as a security guard with big dreams, the clip offers a peek into his journey to becoming an all-American success story. The trailer opens with Robinson’s character getting turned down for a loan in thinly veiled racist language before giving a look at his crumbling home life. Learning his daughter could be moving to Ohio due to his ex’s beau getting a new job seems to be the last straw, so when there’s an opportunity to win $20,000 in a snake hunting contest, it’s a no-brainer. Watch the trailer below. Killing It comes from Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-creator Dan Goor and writer/pr...
Red Hot Chili Peppers have shared the sentimental new song, “Not the One,” as the latest preview of their upcoming album Unlimited Love. “Not the One” is RHCP at their most earnest, with lyrics that describe trying to live up to someone else’s expectations. “I’m not the person that you thought I was,” Anthony Kiedis sings over melancholy piano and waves of electronically-bending notes. “I’m not the one you thought you knew/ I do most anything to make you think that I’m the one/ I do it all to get to you.” Check out “Not the One” below. Unlimited Love arrives April 1st with production from Rick Rubin and John Frusciante on guitar for the first time since 2006. Previously, Red Hot Chili Peppers shared the singles “Poster Child” and “Black Summer,”&nbs...
Arizona thrashers SACRED REICH have canceled three more shows on their North American tour with SEPULTURA due to frontman Phil Rind‘s “ongoing respiratory illness.” Rind was hospitalized last Saturday (March 19) with a non-COVID-19-related illness. The trek, which kicked off on March 4 in Sacramento, California, also features support from CROWBAR and ART OF SHOCK. Earlier today (Wednesday, March 23), SACRED REICH released the following statement: “Unfortunately we will not be playing tonight [March 24] in Atlanta and will be unable to play the shows in Ft. Lauderdale [March 25] and Tampa [March 26] this weekend. “We apologize to our fans looking forward to these shows. We are very disappointed. We are hoping we can rejoin the tour in New Orleans [on March 28]....
DJ Ashba has clarified his recent comments about Buckethead, saying that he wasn’t trying to “discredit” the fellow ex-GUNS N’ ROSES guitarist “at all.” This past January, Ashba, who joined GUNS N’ ROSES in March 2009 following the departure of Robin Finck, spoke about his time with the Axl Rose-fronted outfit in an interview with Antihero Magazine. The guitarist said: “I didn’t know what to expect. I was hoping that one day Slash would come back, and the reason I took the gig is that, honestly, I was — no disrespect to Buckethead [former GUNS N’ ROSES guitarist Brian Carroll, who was in the band between 2000 and 2004] or anybody — but seeing a guy run around with a chicken bucket on his head, it’s, like, to me, that took th...
This Halloween, Z2 Comics and Grammy-winning rock band HALESTORM will transform the group’s barbed riffs and evocative narratives into sequential art for “Hyde Manor”, a harrowing descent into one woman’s fight with the darkest parts of herself. Twins Brittany and Brianna Winner (the “Twin Soul” series), artist Sara Scalia, and colorist DJ Alonso weave a tale of the celebrated group as they seek refuge in the titular Hyde Manor — a sprawling gothic estate perched on the remote end of the Oregon Coast. Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the 2012 EP “Hello, It’s Mz Hyde” and its ensuing LP, “The Strange Case Of…”, the “Hyde Manor” graphic novel depicts the members of HALESTORM encountering sinister doppelgangers o...
Glenn Tipton says that Kenneth “K.K.” Downing never approached any the members of JUDAS PRIEST about rejoining the band before the launch of the “Firepower” world tour. K.K. left PRIEST in 2011 amid claims of band conflict, shoddy management and declining quality of performance. In 2018, Downing revealed that he sent two resignation letters to his bandmates when he decided to quit JUDAS PRIEST. The first was described as “a graceful exit note, implying a smooth retirement from music,” while the second was “angrier, laying out all of his frustrations with specific parties.” Downing later said that he believed the second letter was “a key reason” he wasn’t invited to rejoin PRIEST after Tipton‘s decision to retire from t...
The upcoming Paramount+ limited series The Offer will take viewers behind the scenes of the turbulent road to the making of The Godfather. Thanks to the new official trailer, we now have a longer look at legendary producer Albert S. Ruddy (Miles Teller) and his struggle to make the classic gangster film. The clip opens with Ruddy’s meeting with studio execs Robert Evans (Matthew Goode) and Barry Lapidus (Colin Hanks), after which he is tasked with producing the film “no one wants to make.” Though Ruddy finds “someone who understands Italians” in Francis Ford Coppola (Dan Fogler), casting Al Pacino and Marlon Brando proves to be a hard sell to his bosses. As if Ruddy wasn’t facing enough obstacles, Five Families boss Joe Colombo (Giovanni Ribisi) vociferously expresses his opposition t...

Bauhaus are back and more gothically engrossing than ever. With “Drink the New Wine,” their first new song since 2008’s Go Away White, the quartet of Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash, Kevin Haskins, and David J play a musical game of Exquisite Corpse. For those who need to brush up on their surrealist pastimes, Exquisite Corpse was a diversion invented by André Breton, Marcel Duchamp, Jacques Prévert, and Yves Tangu. Each participant creates one part of a sentence or image, either in total ignorance of what the others are doing, or with only the very end of the previous composition to guide them. The name of the game, as well as Bauhaus’ new single, come from the first sentence produced under these constraints: “Le cadavre exquis boira le vin nouveau,” which translates to, “The exqu...
