Days after the death of William Hurt, the actor’s former long-term partner Donna Kaz has shared her response to the news and opened up about the abuse she suffered at the actor’s hands. In a guest column for Variety, Kaz looked back at her relationship with the late actor, which began in 1977 and officially ended in 1980 — though they would still see each other a few times per year until 1989. “Bill would snap, physically shove, punch and beat me, followed by tears, apologies and him offering me expensive gifts,” she wrote. “When the battering began I sloughed it off. Greta Van Fleet have been forced to postpone a few shows on their current North American tour, as guitarist Jake Kiszka has been hospitalized with pneumonia. Jake’s twin brother, Josh (lead vocals), also fell ill, but has mostly recovered. Originally, the band was scheduled to kick off the 2022 outing with five shows in their home state of Michigan. They got through three of the gigs, including the tour opener in Kalamazoo, before illness derailed the itinerary. J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot are producing a scripted series about U2 for Netflix. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, the as-yet untitled show will be written by Anthony McCarten, Hollywood’s go-to biopic scribe who has penned such based-on-a-true-story tales as The Theory of Everything (2014), Darkest Hour (2017), The Two Popes (2019), and most relevant for music fans, the cliche-riddled take on Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody (2018). The series is in the early stages of production.
