Sam Elliott Complains About “Homosexuality” in “Piece of Shit” Movie The Power of the Dog

Sam Elliott has spent half his acting career perched on top of a horse, and he seems to now consider himself an expert on all things cowboy. In a new interview on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast, the star of 1883 called the Oscar-nominated film The Power of the Dog a “piece of shit” while complaining about all the “allusions of homosexuality.” Jane Campion’s deconstructed Western stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Phil Burbank, a self-styled macho man whose insistence on presenting himself in the most manly way possible hides deep insecurities about his sexual identity. When Maron asked Elliott what he thought of the film, the 77-year-old responded, “You want to talk about that piece of shit?” “Where’s the Western in this Western?” Elliott asked. “I mean, Cumber...

My Idea Share Bittersweet Single “Crutch”: Stream

Last month, Palberta’s Lily Koningsberg and Water from Your Eyes’ Nate Amos announced the formation of their new duo, My Idea. Before their debut album CRY MFER comes out on April 22nd, the duo have shared another single called “Crutch.” Though the members of My Idea only got to know each other in 2020, the pair encouraged each other to quit drinking after they finished their album. “Crutch” documents them encroaching on that breaking point: “Truth is I really miss your tough/ And I’m hanging on ’cause you’re my crutch,” Koningsberg sings, seeming to argue that the people we meet can become just as addictive as substances. “‘Crutch’ was written at a time when both of our personal lives had begun to collapse around us,” Koningsberg and Amos said in a statement. “Outside influences began to ...

But the veterans of thrash metal just revealed that they’ve landed perhaps the genre’s greatest drummer, the iconic Dave Lombardo, as their newest member. That’s right, the Dave Lombardo, founding member of Slayer and undisputed champion of the double bass drums, is Testament’s new stickman. Frontman Chuck Billy exclaimed, “I’ll state the obvious: We are more than overwhelmed to welcome back Dave Lombardo to play drums with Testament. TESTAMENT Rejoined By Drummer DAVE LOMBARDO

San Francisco Bay Area metallers TESTAMENT have announced the return of drummer Dave Lombardo to the group’s ranks. An original member of thrash metal legends SLAYER, Lombardo was the guest drummer on TESTAMENT‘s 1999 studio album “The Gathering”, which also marked the first time the band worked with then-up-and-coming British producer/engineer Andy Sneap. “The Gathering” was widely considered to be an improvement over 1997’s “Demonic”, an album that saw singer Chuck Billy employ a more guttural style of vocals and was released at a time when thrash acts as TESTAMENT had fallen out of favor. Billy comments: “I’ll state the obvious, We are more than overwhelmed to welcome back Dave Lombardo to play drums with TESTAMENT. We ar...

Original VENOM Guitarist MANTAS Wants Band’s Classic Lineup To Reunite For ‘Black Metal’ 40th-Anniversary Celebration

Former VENOM and current VENOM INC. guitarist Jeff “Mantas” Dunn says that he would love to reunite the classic VENOM lineup to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the band’s “Black Metal” album. Released in 1982, “Black Metal” is considered a major influence on thrash metal and extreme metal in general. VENOM‘s second album proved influential enough that its title was used as the name of the extreme metal subgenre of black metal. The band classic lineup trio of Dunn, vocalist/bassist Conrad “Cronos” Lant and drummer Anthony “Abaddon” Bray recorded two further studio LPs, “At War With Satan” (1984) and “Possessed” (1985), and live album, “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik” (1986).
