In a new interview with the “Drum Candy” podcast, KORN drummer Ray Luzier explained his decision to relocate his family to Franklin, Tennessee nearly a decade ago. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I moved [to the Nashville area] — June, it’ll be eight years here, which is nuts, ’cause I’m still in a band based in Bakersfield, California. I always joke with people, ‘I have a two-thousand-mile commute to work.’ “When Head [KORN guitarist Brian Welch] rejoined the band in 2013, I said to him first thing, ’cause he lived out here [in Nashville], and I said, ‘When are you gonna move back to Cali?’ And he said, ‘I’ll never live in L.A.’ And I said, ‘How are you gonna be in the band?̵...
During an appearance on “Put Up Your Dukes”, the new podcast hosted by ex-EXODUS singer Rob Dukes, current EXODUS frontman Steve “Zetro” Souza was asked to name the worst show he ever played in his life. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I remember we were on the ‘Headbangers Ball’ tour [with ANTHRAX and HELLOWEEN in 1989] and we were in New Orleans. And I love Slurpees — not as much anymore ’cause of my transformation lately, but I love Slurpees. And we got to the French Quarter, and Hurricanes are like Slurpees with fucking alcohol in them. So I was drinking ’em, and I didn’t really taste the booze and they are high-alcohol-contented drinks. And I drank, like, five of them. And on those tours, we were on stage ...

It seems pretty likely that we’ll hear Guillermo del Toro’s name at this year’s Oscars, but the filmmaker wants his fellow artisans to get the same due as big-name directors. While accepting an award at the Hollywood Critics Association Awards on Monday (February 28th), del Toro criticized the Academy for cutting select behind-the-scenes categories from the Oscars’ live broadcast, noting the collective nature of filmmaking. “If any year was the year to think about it, this is not the year not to hear their names live at the Oscars. This is the year to sing and do it live,” del Toro said. The director, who was accepting the Filmmaking Achievement Award, was referring to the artists who work in documentaries, editing, makeup and hairstyling, production design, short films, and sound. Last we...
John DiMaggio would like to invite all the haters to bite his shiny metal ass. As Variety reports, the voiceover legend has officially boarded the Futurama revival headed for Hulu. When Futurama was pulled out of the cryogenic chamber last month, fans quickly noted a missing piece: DiMaggio, a veteran of such beloved properties as Adventure Time, Gears of War, Teen Titans and more, who had voiced the character of Bender since the show’s inception. As he subsequently explained in a statement, he’d turned down an offer out of “self-respect,” adding, “Just to be clear, I don’t think only I deserve to be paid more. I think the entire cast does.” His holdout was brief and apparently successful. In a jubilant new statement, DiMaggio wrote, “I’M BACK, BABY!...

SHINEDOWN will release the official music video for its new single, “Planet Zero”, on Thursday, March 3. A short teaser for the clip is available below. “Planet Zero” is the title track of SHINEDOWN‘s seventh album, which will be released on April 22 via Atlantic Records. Vocalist Brent Smith stated about the new disc: “If we shut each other down and allow ourselves to be divided by the information we consume and the way we talk to each other, we lose our humanity. When you look outside of your phone, you’ll see there are so many people doing good things and trying to take care of each other. But we’re starting to see parts of society slip into an unknown. ‘Planet Zero’ was written for all of us. The fact is that we’re all h...
With Origins, artists get the chance to share insights on their latest release. Today, xiv and biosphere share the inspiration behind their collaboration with Toronto-based artist koven wei. xiv and biosphere are getting intergalactic. Their joint project, Calamity (available to stream today, March 1st) is a 10-track journey that feels less like a cross between a concept album and an atmospheric mixtape, complete with star-crossed lovers and plenty of longing. Vocalist xiv and producer biosphere released track “On You” in October of 2021 before recruiting fellow Canadian up-and-coming artist koven wei for this next single. It’s no surprise that xiv mentions South Korean artist collective Dream Perfect Regime (DPR) as an influence — the extremely successful group has set the stage for...
The Pitch: Animated spinoff anthologies for popular nerd properties are all the rage, it seems; hot off the back of Star Wars Visions a mere few months ago, Prime Video’s hit superhero satire The Boys gets one in the form of The Boys Presents: Diabolical. Taking inspiration, presumably, from their other blood-soaked comic book adaptation Invincible, here we’ve got eight distinct stories, with eight distinct animation styles, telling stories in and around the show’s world of corporate-sponsored (and created) superheroes, and the intestine-strewn trails they leave in their wake. Across eight Adult Swim-sized stories, the anthology peeks into the following tales of superpowered mayhem: Advertisement • A Tex Avery-style silent caper with a Vought scientist chasing down...
