The Pitch: When we last saw the titular character in Amy Sherman-Palladino’s Amazon Prime comedy, things were looking quite bad for her. Despite killing at The Apollo, Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) has been fired from Shy Baldwin’s tour, thanks to some jokes that alluded a bit too closely to his status as a closeted gay man. This left her abandoned on the tarmac with Susie (Alex Borstein), who, unbeknownst to Midge, had lost all of Midge’s hard-earned money thanks to a combination of gambling problems and general managerial irresponsibility. Meet Me on the West Side: Season 4 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel picks up shortly after these events in a familiar setting — Midge, onstage, cigarette in hand, seemingly killing at a club in The Village. The cliffhanger of Season 3 seemed to ...

PEARL JAM guitarist Stone Gossard has admitted that he was a fan of early MÖTLEY CRÜE, just days after his bandmate Eddie Vedder said that he “hated” the 1980s glam metal genre. On Monday (February 14), Gossard took part in a “Fan First” interview with Revolver in which he discussed CRÜE and pointed out that he and fellow founding PEARL JAM members Jeff Ament and Mike McCready had an appreciation for some of the early hard rock bands. Stone also revealed that he purchased a copy of the first CRÜE album, “Too Fast For Love”, when it was still only available on the band’s independent record label Leathür Records. Gossard said: “For sure, Jeff and Mike and I loved hard rock, like, went through it all. I bought the first MÖTLEY CRÜE [album on] Le...
Legendary rockers KISS have announced that the upcoming voyage of the “Kiss Kruise XI” will be their “last performance onboard”. The KISS Navy will set sail for their eleventh mission from Los Angeles to Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada, Mexico from October 29, 2022 to November 3, 2022. As has been the case on all the previous cruises, fans will get to see KISS‘s unmasked acoustic and electric shows and engage in activities with the bandmembers. Last year’s edition of the “Kiss Kruise” required fans to be vaccinated to attend. In October, KISS frontman Paul Stanley said that the final concert of the band’s “End Of The Road” tour would likely happen by early 2023. KISS launched its farewell trek in January 2019 but was forced to p...
FOO FIGHTERS have released a thrashy new song titled “March Of The Insane”. The track, which was made available under the band moniker DREAM WIDOW, is featured in FOO FIGHTERS‘ upcoming horror comedy “Studio 666”. In “Studio 666”, the legendary rock band FOO FIGHTERS move into an Encino mansion steeped in grisly rock and roll history to record their much-anticipated tenth album. Once in the house, Dave Grohl finds himself grappling with supernatural forces related to related to the studio’s former residents — the aforementioned fictional act DREAM WINDOW — that threaten both the completion of the album and the lives of the FOO FIGHTERS. Last December, Grohl told Mojo about the film: “There’s no other band that’s stupid enough to d...
The family of Halyna Hutchins, who was shot and killed on the set of the western Rust last year, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Alec Baldwin, his co-producers, and several crew members, Variety reports. On October 21st, during rehearsals at the Bonanza Creek Ranch in New Mexico, a gun that had been inexplicably loaded with live ammunition went off. Baldwin was holding the gun, though he has claimed that he did not pull the trigger. The bullet penetrated through Hutchins’ torso and buried in the shoulder of the film’s director, Joel Souza. Hutchins died after being airlifted to an Albuquerque hospital. The suit has been filed on behalf of her husband Matthew Hutchins and their nine-year-old son. Brian Panish, who represents the Hutchins estate, said, “He...
New Wilco music is coming down the pipeline. In a “Chit-Chat Check-In” post on Jeff Tweedy’s newsletter last week, the vocalist said that he and his fellow Wilco members were in the studio “chipping away at a new record.” “It’s been very, very, very fun and exciting, and we’re having a great time,” Tweedy said. “If I can get everybody in the Wilco braintrust on board, maybe I’ll share a snippet of a work in progress or something like that over the weekend behind the paywall.” Head over to Tweedy’s page here to listen to the full update. While Tweedy’s casual “Chit-Chat Check-Ins” are free for anyone to listen to, diehard Wilcoheads can get exclusive access to more Wilco-adjacent content with a paid subscription. In the meantime, stay tuned here for more news about their follow-up to 2019’s...
The Pitch: The original pitch was simple: In 2019, the 45th President of the United States announced a plan for a Space Force branch of the U.S. military. To Steve Carell and Greg Daniels (who previously worked together on The Office), that sounded pretty ridiculous, so they successfully pitched Netflix on a satirical version of what such a “space force” would look like, with Carell as the general in charge. Unfortunately, Season 1 of Netflix’s Space Force… didn’t quite work. Despite the assembly of a surprise-packed ensemble, including awkward comedy G.O.A.T. Carell, human live wire Ben Schwartz, secret MVP Tawny Newsome, and wild card John Malkovich, there was something just off in how the writing and acting and directing jelled together — and to the credit of Carell and Daniels, they no...
Women deserve everything. On this point, Jazmine Sullivan’s Heaux Tales is unequivocal. Her 2021 mini-opus is a communal emotional audit that pairs nearly every song with a confessional spoken “tale” recorded by a personal friend. With candid intimacy, the Black women interviewed in these snippets revealed hard lessons in love, nuanced vignettes of relationships that thrilled or scarred them. Their perspectives, distinct yet harmonious, cast Sullivan’s music as part of a wider conversation, empowering her to interpret their experiences. Writing about women’s true feelings, in the ways women actually talk about them, Sullivan taps into a creativity and boundless empathy that grants her listeners permission to be equally generous. Though Sullivan is gifted with a voice that can affect bragga...
RATING: 9.5/10 Five years have passed since IMMOLATION‘s last album, “Atonement”. In its 30-plus years of existence, the unit hasn’t released a single subpar offering, although naturally some stand out above others. Their earliest releases, veritable classics like “Dawn of Possession” (1991) and “Here in After” (1996), are revered higher than most of what’s followed, but they’ve always been consistent and more than just a little good with their bleak, dark, anti-religious metal. The legendary, New York-based death metal machine finally returns with its 11th full-length album, “Acts of God”, their best effort since 2002’s “Unholy Cult”. Robert Vigna and Ross Dolan have been hacking away with their stri...
