Three years ago, video game streamer Bruno Aiub decided to start a new podcast, Flow, modeled on The Joe Rogan Experience. “I said, ‘Man, it would be really cool if I did that here in Brazil, since nobody else is,’” he told The New York Times. He interviewed comedians, academics, government officials, and ufologists, drinking alcohol and smoking weed in episodes that lasted several hours. Aiub, who goes by the moniker Monark, quickly became one of the country’s most popular podcasters. His meteoric rise is due in no small part to the model developed by his hero, but as he learned last week, aping Rogan comes with risk. In a February 7th conversation with two members of the Brazilian congress, Aiub argued that Brazil should embrace free speech absolutism, including legalizing...
Due to coronavirus restrictions, W.A.S.P. has postponed its European 40th-anniversary tour, originally scheduled for spring of 2022, until the spring of 2023. The new dates will take place in March, April and May of 2023. All tickets previously purchased for the 2022 tour will be valid at the rescheduled 2023 shows. W.A.S.P. leader Blackie Lawless commented: “With enormous frustration, I’m forced to announce W.A.S.P. must postpone the 2022 European leg of the 40th-anniversary world tour. This hideous pandemic that’s stripped people of their freedom and lives, that’s caused countless artists to cancel or postpone shows for years, once again has reared its vicious head to claim us… again! For years we’ve worked really hard to make this tour our celebration, for ...
Nita Strauss, the Los Angeles-based guitar shredder for the ALICE COOPER band, spoke to SiriusXM‘s “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk” about her upcoming follow-up to 2018’s “Controlled Chaos” solo debut. She said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “It’s gonna be half and half — six tracks with vocalists and six tracks of instrumental [music]. The next single after this, I think, will be an instrumental one; we’ve been doing it live on the solo tour and it’s been getting a super-good reaction from our crowds. So I think the next one will be instrumental — kind of go back to the roots — and then another radio single after that.” Asked if she can talk about some of the other guests that appear on her new solo album, Nita said: ...

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of PANTERA‘s classic sophomore major label album “Vulgar Display Of Power”, The Pit has uploaded a video interview with the band’s vocalist Philip Anselmo. You can now watch the chat in two parts below. Speaking about his expectations for the LP at the time of its release, Anselmo said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “When ‘Vulgar Display Of Power’ first came out, my expectations for how it would do were none. I never had any expectations for any record we’ve ever done. I always felt like if I put an expectation upon it, I’d always get let down. So I just let things happen as things happened. “Now, the reception of the record and — God — the tours, the tours,” he continued. “The ...

Anybody who’s used dating apps relates to the frustration that comes with trying to meet the right person, so it’s easy to relate to the plot of Fresh, which stars the irresistible Sebastian Stan as a stranger named Steve who seduces protagonist Noa (played by Daisy Edgar-Jones) during a meet-cute at the grocery store. Check out the trailer below ahead of its March 4th debut on Hulu. The clip opens with Noa zoning out during a terrible date before receiving advice from her best friend Mollie (Jojo T. Gibbs) that she doesn’t need anyone in her life. However, Noa can’t help but be charmed when she meets Texan surgeon Steve and he quips, “Do you live here? I live on Aisle 6.” Despite red flags like Steve not having an Instagram account, they go out on a date and hit it off immediately. “Girl,...
Ben Gibbard’s latest project has been compiling an album of Yoko Ono covers in honor of the iconic — and often misunderstood — musician. Today, his band Death Cab for Cutie have shared their own contribution to Ocean Child: Songs of Yoko Ono before its February 18th release. “Waiting for the Sunrise” originally appeared on Ono’s 1973 double album Approximately Infinite Universe, which she co-produced with her husband John Lennon. The album saw Ono move from her avant-garde musical beginnings into a more straightforward pop sound, although “Waiting for the Sunrise” still has an endearing quirky spunk. Death Cab’s cover stays pretty authentic to Ono’s original, utilizing the same propulsive drum beat. They do give it a more rock-forward feel by adding some lovely vocal harmonies and a great ...
Despite an onslaught of cryptocurrency content, most of this year’s Super Bowl advertisements understood the assignment, shelling out the big bucks in order to turn up the star power at every possible opportunity. While many Game Day ads boasted blockbuster celebrity pairings (yes, that was Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus joining forces for T-Mobile, and Zendaya and André 3000 finding some time to sell seashells for Squarespace), mini-reunions of classic TV show casts also dominated the advertising airwaves of Super Bowl LVI on Sunday (February 14th). From Scrubs to The Sopranos, we’ve got them all rounded up here in case you unglued yourself from the living room couch in order to grab more snacks. Check out the nostalgia-inducing ads you may have missed below. Scrubs: Zach Braff and Donald F...
