“Big” John Harte, longtime bodyguard for iconic music artists including KISS, IRON MAIDEN, Billy Idol and Prince, passed away on Friday, February 11 in Hollywood, Florida. He was 70 years old. Born John Joseph Harte III in Newark, New Jersey on November 15, 1951, he was the older of two boys raised in a traditional Irish-Catholic family in nearby Passaic. When Harte‘s mother unexpectedly passed away, he helped support his family while dreaming of becoming a famous musician. The rock and roll band that Harte played drums and percussion for did not last long, but a chance experience keeping people at bay outside a GRATEFUL DEAD concert would change the trajectory of his life. “I was noticed at that show because I was big, dressed in denim and black, looked tough with ...

In a new interview with Tom Power, host of “Q” on Canada’s CBC Radio One, GUNS N’ ROSES guitarist Slash spoke about his love for the touring lifestyle. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I’m a road guy. That’s why the pandemic was such a shock. I’d say I spend probably 85 percent of my time touring and have done for as long as I can remember — since 1985 or ’86. And that’s what I love to do. “People think I’m crazy because the older I get, the more I love touring — it’s, like, the more exciting it is for me,” he continued. “But a lot of it is because of the simple fact that I love guitar playing, and my favorite venue for actually playing is live as opposed to being in the studio or being ...
Dr. Dre has promised some “big surprises” during the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show, but whatever does happen won’t be done without the approval of the NFL. As Eriq Gardner of Puck reports, the league has already nixed several elements of the show, including plans by Eminem to take a knee in solidarity of Colin Kaepernick. The NFL also rejected an outfit that Snoop Dogg was set to wear due to possible gang ties, and flagged Dr. Dre’s lyric from “Still D.R.E.,” which includes the line “still not loving police.” According to Gardner, the NFL wants to avoid the Super Bowl becoming a “divisive culture war moment,” but a source close to Dre told Gardner that he was being “disgustingly censored.” Advertisement Related Video Dr. Dre is putting up his own money — upwards of $7 millio...
ANVIL guitarist/vocalist Steve “Lips” Kudlow spoke to Canada’s The Metal Voice about the band’s upcoming follow-up to 2020’s “Legal At Last” LP. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “The new album is completed and mixed and done. What can I say? I can’t wait till it comes out. “The whole thing is a bit weird and odd because we put out an album and then never got to tour for it,” he continued, referencing the aforementioned “Legal At Last”. “So it’s, like, where is the tour for the last album already? So, what is the last album, just spinning our wheels? What was that? What happened? Now I’m in a position where I’m putting out another album, and I’m gonna have to actually try...
In a new interview with Terrie Carr of the Morristown, New Jersey radio station 105.5 WDHA, HALESTORM frontwoman Lzzy Hale spoke about how she gets inspiration for her lyrics through her interactions with the band’s loyal fanbase. She said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “There was a lot of things personally that saved me [during the pandemic], and one of them was our community that we have with our fans. I know everybody says this, but we absolutely have the best fans in the world. I stalk them even when I’m not responding, and, obviously, they tag me in everything. And any given moment, I will go online or any of my socials, and somebody will say, ‘Hey, I’m kind of struggling today’ or ‘I’m having a dark time,’ and everybody wil...
During an appearance on the “In The Trenches With Ryan Roxie” video podcast, JUDAS PRIEST guitarist Richie Faulkner confirmed that he has used some of the coronavirus downtime to work on a solo project. He explained (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I haven’t really spoken much about it publicly, but there is something I’ve kind of been [putting] together during the COVID period. I mean, I know we’re still going through it but there’s been a lot of downtime. So I’ve used that time to kind of get some songs I’ve been working on, get them together, polish them up, get some people together that I respect in the music business and record some stuff. And I haven’t spoken a lot about it. It’s in the process of being finalized...
