DJ Akademiks Launches ‘Off The Record’ Video Podcast On Spotify

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Spotify / Spotify DJ Akademiks is back with his brand new podcast. Actually, a “vodcast.” Since the forever-controversial Hip-Hop commentator parted ways with Complex, Joe Budden and Everyday Struggle, most of his drama-infused content was brought to us via Twitch, but on Monday, the Jamaica-born, New York-raised media personality officially launched his new video podcast, Off the Record, which is available exclusively on Spotify. Off the Record will release three video episodes a week. Each episode will feature “two roundtable discussions and one interview featuring an artist or celebrity driving the culture forward,” according to a press release sent to Hip Hop Wired. The podcast will also feature special live episodes on Spotify Gre...

Future Says Blu Jasmine “Big Capping” After She Claimed He Offered 5 Stacks For Sex

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Prince Williams / Getty Future has earned a reputation as a so-called “sniper” when it comes to the ladies, although he’s also known for having a ton of kids due to his galavanting ways. However, he clearly knows discernment after refuting claims that he offered Instagram model Blu Jasmine $5,000 for sex after she appeared on Twitch with DJ Akademiks. Blu Jasmine, who frames herself as a “Motivational Speaker,” hopped on Twitch with Ak and the discussion was apparently about rappers paying for the privilege of a young lady’s time. Blu claimed that women are getting $10,000 from Future but Ak wasn’t believing it. In fact, Blu then said that the “Stick Talk” rapper offered her half of that amount but Akademiks didn’t believe her. Adding to that disbelief, F...

Wild Flagrant: Akademiks Offers Rory & Mal Of ‘The Joe Budden Podcast’ A Job Detailing Cars

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Twitter / Twitter If you’ve been a longtime supporter of DJ Akademiks or The Joe Budden Podcast, then it should be known to you that there’s been some tension between the two entities previously. Given the perceived issues happening with Budden and his current co-hosts, Ak took a shot at Rory and Mal by offering them jobs detailing one of his expensive rides. Via an Instagram post, the Everyday Struggle and streaming host showed off his new collection of vehicles in the driveway of his home, which appears to be sitting on a nice plot of land. The caption of the photo quotes Drake and takes a shot at Rory and Mal. “Heard the stooges on strike..don’t worry I still need a full time detailer for my cars,” Ak wrote. He then went on to quote Drake lyrics from t...

DJ Akademiks Claims Male Rappers Are Hooking Up With Male Execs

Source: Earl Gibson III / Getty In the entertainment world, it has been alleged by observers that artists and their colleagues have engaged in behavior not befitting of most working relationships. However, DJ Akademiks took it a step further and claims that male rappers are sexually linking up with male executives in what appears to be an open secret. A Twitter fan recorded a portion of Ak’s Twitch stream from this week and shared it to the social media network, highlighting the streamer addressing the recent abuse allegations against T.I. and Tiny. Ak essentially said that there is a seedy underworld in Hip-Hop circles that most fans will never be privy to. “I don’t really think that I believe all this stuff but I’m a just say this,” Ak begins. “In the land of Hollyweird, don’t ever think...

Akademiks & Funkmaster Flex Question Roc Nation’s CEO Getting A Trump Pardon [Video]

Source: Rich Fury / Getty Trash day is over but dumping on folks is a forever thing apparently. Two of Hip-Hop’s most outspoken voices have refocused their sights on Roc Nation. The former President of the United States Donald Trump pardoned a gang of individuals on his final day. Included in this list was Desiree Perez, the CEO of Roc Nation. For those not in the know, the executive had different career goals back in the 1990’s. According to the New York Daily News, the DEA claims she was part of a massive cocaine ring that generated millions of dollars per month. In 1994, she was arrested for conspiracy to distribute 35 kilos of cocaine. Surprisingly she took the Tekashi 69 route to get her time reduced, allegedly. The NY Daily News she “agreed to wear hidden wires to record her meeting ...

Beef to Besties: Drake & Meek Mill Reportedly Shooting A Music In The Bahamas

Source: Prince Williams / Getty It appears that Drake and Meek Mill are kicking off 2021 with another collaboration. According to DJ Akademiks, Drizzy and Meek are in the Bahamas filming a music video for an upcoming project. While Akademiks stopped short of revealing further information, he did tweet that the project was “coming soon.” “I heard Drake and Meek in Bahamas shooting a music video…hmmm,” the former Everyday Struggle host tweeted. “Heard that content will soon fwd.” I heard Drake and Meek in Bahamas shooting a music video…hmmm. Heard that content will soon fwd. — DJ Akademiks (@Akademiks) January 6, 2021 While neither Drake nor Meek have confirmed the report, Drake did fuel speculation when he posted a photo from an undisclosed tropical location. Just days earlier, he was photo...

DJ Akademiks Goes In On Ebro & Peter Rosenberg After Being Called “Softest Man In The Game”

Source: Earl Gibson III / Getty DJ Akademiks is only a few weeks removed from being (officially?) fired from Complex’s Everyday Struggle but already one of the most criticized Hip-Hop personalities in the game is once again defending himself from his on-air peers. Recently Hot 97‘s Peter Rosenberg decided to take a nice sized crap on the former Everyday Struggle co-host, referring to him as a “talentless hack” on Ebro In The Morning before really going in on Tekashi 6ix9ine’s former best friend. “Let me tell you the level of tit mouse that dude was in that building and the way he walked in those hallways and the speed walk that dude does to avoid confrontation in real life. Akademiks, the level of bitch in that dude, OK? I am one of the softest dudes publicly in the history of Hip-Hop. I’m...

Detangled: DJ Akademiks Claims Complex Fired Him; Drops New Freestyle [Video]

Source: Earl Gibson III / Getty Hip-Hop’s most hated media personality has apparently been shown the door. DJ Akademiks is saying he has been fired from his talk show. The last couple of weeks have been filled more downs than ups for the Jamaica-American. It started out with his criticism of Freddie Gibbs that lead to a very snarky back and forth with the Gary, Ind. rapper. From there he got into some a war of words with Meek Mill who pointed out his culture vulture vibes. Somehow that set the stage to him to dropping some very harsh bombs on Chrissy Teigen and John Legend. Last week it was reported AK was suspended from Complex for his actions. As spotted on Hot New Hip Hop it seems he has been terminated from his position on Everyday Struggle. On Sunday (July 12), Ak shared a post via so...

(Photo by Kyle Gustafson / For The Washington Post via Getty Images)  When journalists go low, Freddie Gibbs goes lower. He had time for Hip-Hop’s most hated media personality. As spotted on HipHopDX the Gary, Indiana MC made a recent appearance on the Desus & Mero show. As usual The Bodega Boys were combing through the biggest stories in popular culture. Things got interesting when the topic of DJ Akademiks’ and Kane’s online beef came up. The two got him on the video call and a roasting ensued. ‘This hoe ass got mad because he thought I was talking some shit about Gunna and T.I. or something li...

Joe Budden Talks DJ Akademiks & Tekashi SnitchNine Amid Freddie Gibbs Beef

Source: MediaPunch/Bauer-Griffin / Getty Fans of The Joe Budden Podcast should be well aware that they’re no fans of Tekashi 6ix9ine, whom they largely refer to as “Duke” as to not give him any more shine. While commenting on DJ Akademiks and Freddie Gibbs beefing about numbers and relevancy, Joe Budden shared thoughts about his former Complex co-host for standing up for Tekashi after the rapper reportedly faked his streaming numbers. On Episode 358, the Spotify Boys (for now) aimed part of their commentary over the recently-surfaced tiff between Gibbs and Akademiks, sparked by an interview the Gary, Ind. rapper held with Bootleg Kev in where he mentions his former alignment with Jeezy’s CTE imprint. Akademiks went on an explosive tirade via social media, calling Gibbs, among other things,...

DJ Akademiks Suspended From Complex For Slandering Chrissy Teigen, Freddie Gibbs Approves

Source: Earl Gibson III / Getty DJ Akademiks took an L, but Freddie Gibbs wasn’t involved just yet—but he does approve. The divisive, to say the least, “blogger” and host has been suspended from Complex News after calling Chrissy Teigen out of her name. On Tuesday (June 30), Akademiks jumped out the window when he came for John Legend’s wife while he was streaming on Twitch. Her crime was allegedly sneak dissing him. “It’s bewildering to me. His bitch be talking mad sh*t online,” said Akademiks, referring to Teigen. “What’s… I dislike this b*tch so much, I can’t even lie to you. One time she sneak-dissed me so f*ck that hoe. Straight up and John Legend could hear that. Don’t have your b*tch dissing me because I don’t give two f*cks about none of y’all n*ggas.” That was only the beginning a...

Freddie Gibbs Releases Akademiks Teletubby T-Shirt As Their Beyond Burger Beef Intensifies

(Photo by Kyle Gustafson / For The Washington Post via Getty Images)  While Black twitter continues to drink the seemingly never ending August Alsina tea there is a beef between two of Rap’s biggest personalities to also be savored. Freddie Gibbs has responded to Akademiks in very petty fashion. As reported on HipHopDX the “Crime Pays” rapper is now selling merchandise with Livington’s likeness superimposed on a Teletubby; yes a Teletubby. He announced the move on his official Instagram. “I ain’t done with U p***. I’mma torture U until U quit your job. And whoever else want smoke holla at Big Rabbit” he w...
