Quavo and Takeoff have officially debuted as Unc and Phew with the release of their first ever single, “HOTEL LOBBY.” Clocking in at two-and-a-half minutes, “Hotel Lobby” features production work from Murda Beatz, Keanu Beats and Fabio Aguilar. The track also arrives with an accompanying music video co-directed by Keemotion and Quavo, which shows the pair taking a trip to Vegas and enjoying the city’s pleasures. Logic and DJ Premier have dropped off their collaborative effort, “Vinyl Days.” Clocking in at almost five-minutes, the single is the title track of the rapper’s upcoming album and hears Logic spitting non-stop bars over some classic Premier sampling and production. Effortless and easy to the ears, “Vinyl Days” follows the previously-released cuts “Breath Control,” ”Therapy Music,” “Tetris” and “Decades” — all of which are expected to appear on the record. Diana Ross and Tame Impala have shared a new song. “Turn Up the Sunshine” will appear on the upcoming Minions: The Rise of Gru soundtrack, which was produced and curated by Jack Antonoff. The soundtrack, like the film, is out July 1 and features covers of 1970s hits courtesy of St. Vincent, Thundercat, Phoebe Bridgers, and more. On Tuesday (May 17th), the State Senate of New York approved Senate Bill S7527 which would limit the usage of song lyrics and other forms of “creative expression” by prosecutors as evidence in criminal cases. While the bill doesn’t outright ban prosecutors from presenting lyrics and other materials to juries, it does require that they show that the work is “literal, rather than figurative or fictional” and that “evidence of criminal conduct, not the provocative nature of their artistic works” is what defendants should be tried by.
