Michael Bublé is on track for a fifth No. 1 in the U.K., though the race is far from won. The Canadian crooner’s aptly-titled album Higher (Reprise) leads the midweek U.K. chart, and is on pace to give him a first leader since 2018’s Love. Bublé has also led the Official U.K. Albums Chart with Crazy Love (2009), Christmas (2011) and To Be Loved (2013). Placebo and Machine Gun Kelly could have a say in the outcome. Placebo is currently in second place with Never Let Me Go (So Recordings), just a few hundred chart copies behind the leader, the OCC reports. Foo Fighters’ biggest hits are on the climb in the U.K., as British fans mourn the untimely death of Taylor Hawkins, aged 50. Based on midweek data, the stadium rock outfit’s Greatest Hits (RCA) collection flies 84-4, and is set to match its peak position from 2009. The career retrospective is the U.K.’s second most-streamed album of the week, the OCC reports. Another Foos compilation is about to bursting back into the Top 40, the 2006 live LP Skin and Bones, which is on course to reenter at No. 36, while the Foos’ heavy metal project Dream Widow is set to debut at No. 55. ODESZA Announce 2022 Amphitheater Tour
When rumors begin to swirl around a band’s album or touring plans, oftentimes the reality can be disappointing. Luckily for fans of ODESZA, the frenzy of speculation turned out to be better than they could have ever imagined. Coming to 25 cities across the United States and Canada this summer is ODESZA’s 2022 amphitheater tour, “The Last Goodbye,” which takes its name from the duo’s upcoming album. ODESZA will be taking the stage on a scale grander than any of their previous tours. In an effort to reduce the environmental impact of large-scale events, they have announced a partnership with the nonprofit REVERB in an effort to make the tour carbon-neutral or—ideally—carbon-negative. It appears that Snoop Dogg and BTS are joining forces on a collaborative track. The Death Row Records-owner confirmed the news himself in a recent conversation with The A.V. Club. Snoop shares that he feels that the collaboration is a right fit, tapping into the BTS craze and combining it with hip-hop, “The BTS experience you keep talking about. Taylor Swift to Receive Honorary Doctorate From NYU, Give Commencement Address
Taylor Swift will receive a Doctor of Fine Arts, honoris causa, from New York University with the graduating class of 2022. She will address students and guests at the school’s commencement ceremony on May 18 at Yankee Stadium. Being NYU’s first commencement since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ceremony will honor the 2020, 2021, and 2022 classes. NYU’s Clive Davis Institute recently completed its first-ever class on Swift, taught by Rolling Stone staff writer Brittany Spanos (who has also contributed to Pitchfork).
