Chadwick Boseman was one of the most famous superheroes in Marvel history, and it turns out he was an everyday hero offscreen, too. In a new interview, Sienna Miller revealed that the Black Panther star gave her a portion of his salary from 21 Bridges so that she could continue working as a co-producer and actor in the movie, reports Variety. As Miller told Empire earlier today, she was thrilled when Boseman reached out to her about working together on the crime drama, but she hesitated to sign on because the studio wouldn’t agree to her suggested salary — despite the fact that she was in a period of her life where she was taking a break from working, and as such needed a suitable amount to justify putting her family life on hold. Boseman hoped she could work as a co-producer and as an act...

If you couldn’t tell, Halloween is a big deal when it comes to streaming. Netflix, Hulu, Shudder, and AMC are all offering countless tricks and treats for the month of October. Joining them is The Criterion Channel, and they may be a cut above the rest. As Bloody Disgusting reports, the prestigious channel is dialing things back to the ’70s for October 2020, dropping 29 vintage titles that prove horror looked better in bell bottoms and sequins. It’s a pristine lineup that would impress the likes of Joe Bob Briggs. “In the 1970s, everything was wilder, weirder, and more far-out—and horror movies were no exception,” Criterion announced in a statement. “This tour through the 1970s nightmare realm is a veritable blood feast of perverse pleasures from a time when gore, grime, and sleaze found a...
Rising rocker beabadoobee shared her new song “How Was Your Day?”. It’s the latest preview of her debut album Fake It Flowers, which drops October 16th via Dirty Hit. As you might guess from the songwriter behind “I Wish I Was Stephen Malkmus”, bea has never been afraid to express herself with a forceful electric guitar. But here she strikes a softer tone, with acoustic strumming providing a backdrop for a bruised vocal delivery. The question, “How was your day?” is an attempt to reestablish communication. “What do you look like?” she asks later. “Remember when we used to fight?” Others might not recall that memory so fondly, but this is a song for appreciating the view through rose-colored glasses. She sings, “You used to kiss me/ Guess it’s not hard to believe/ That I miss gett...
In 2018, Sufjan Stevens delivered arguably the biggest performance of his career at the 90th Academy Awards. However, despite his poignant poise while playing Call Me By Your Name song “Mystery of Love” — in a luxe Gucci outfit and accompanied by St. Vincent, no less — Stevens actually considers that evening one of the most “traumatizing” in all his 45 years on this Earth. The indie songwriter recalled that fateful Oscars night in a new interview with The Guardian (via The A.V. Club). “Honestly, one of the most traumatizing experiences of my entire life,” he bemoaned. According to Stevens, his bleak assessment has more to do with the Oscars and what it represents than with the actual performance itself. “I didn’t want to have anything to do with that world and that culture,” he e...

Pixies have shared a new single called “Hear Me Out”. The band’s first new music since releasing Beneath the Eyrie last year, the track serves as the A-side to a forthcoming 12-inch single. Penned jointly by Black Francis and Paz Lenchantin, “Hear Me Out” features the latter on lead vocals. “‘Hear Me Out’ is about things not turning out the way we hoped, but knowing that it’s going to be ok regardless,” Lenchantin said of the track in a press statement. “Black started the melody phrases on an old organ. I loved it right away, so he asked me to take a pass at the lyrics. The song has an evocative melody that inspired the lyrics to come out straight away.” The track comes with a Maximilla Lukacs-directed music video that finds a creative cowboy seeking inspiration in the desert. Considering ...
Kodak Black has sent a petition to Donald Trump asking him commute his prison sentence (via TMZ). In August of 2019, the rapper pleaded guilty to federal weapons charges in Florida. He was sentenced to 46 months in prison, and his time served has been shockingly eventful. Early on, he put a prison guard in the hospital after grabbing his testicles in a drug-addled fight. Afterwards, he was moved from a Miami correctional facility to a maximum-security Kentucky prison. Then, this past April, he pleaded guilty again, this time to gun possession charges in New York. That sentence will be served concurrently with his other charges. Last week Black sued the Federal Bureau of Prisons, alleging abuse by Kentucky prison guards — including a “gang beating” involving correctional officers “flicking”...
James Cameron offered an update on those long-gestating Avatar sequels, saying that filming is “100% complete on Avatar 2, and we’re sort of 95% complete on Avatar 3.” Cameron gave the update to his old muse Arnold Schwarzenegger as part of the Austrian World Summit for the Environment. The former Governor of California hosted the event, which was billed as “the biggest environmental conference in the world.” Schwarzenegger revealed that Cameron was one of the first activists to educate him about the impending crisis. “You talked to me about the environment way back when I didn’t understand what you were talking about. It was back in 1984 when you directed Terminator 1.” Cameron spoke about his own efforts to combat climate change, as well as his goal to become a “lay e...
When asked who she thinks is the “best rapper alive,” Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris named the (officially) deceased artist 2pac. This suggests that two decades of underground research have just been proved correct — dear readers, Tupac Shakur is alive! The government lied to us, but they couldn’t keep it secret when 2pac himself told the truth! Wake up, sheeple! Wake up! she hasn’t listened to rap music in a while and whiffed on a softball question. Senator Harris made this revealing remark in conversation with CNN’s Angela Rye and representatives of the NAACP. When the syllables “2pac,” were uttered, Rye quickly interrupted with, “He’s not alive!” Harris laughed the laugh of a terrified stooge who has just disappointed her Illuminati masters, and said, “I know, I kn...
