Dua Lipa (photo by Ben Kaye), J Balvin (photo by Heather Kaplan), and Bad Bunny (photo via artist’s Instagram) As her smash sophomore album Future Nostalgia demonstrated, Dua Lipa is plenty comfortable flexing into various pop genres. For her latest foray into new territory, the British singer has joined three of reggaeton’s finest — J Balvin, Bad Bunny, and producer Tainy — on the collaborative song “UN DÍA (ONE DAY)”. Tainy first laid the groundwork for the track over a year and a half ago, executive producing the cut with his NEON16 partner Lex Borrero. He called up Balvin to handle the vocals, who in turn reached out to Dua Lipa. Bad Bunny hopped on last, adding his own voice during the same 2019 session that birthed “Callaita” (via Billboard). Garage rocker Nobunny, a regular staple at Burger Records events, has issued a statement in which he admits to sexual misconduct involving underage women and states he is retiring from music. Justin Champlin, the artist who performs under the moniker Nobunny, released his statement earlier Thursday. In it, he says that he has not been publicly “called out” but wants to take responsibility for his previous actions. However, a post on @lured_by_burger_records — the Instagram account that detailed dozens of allegations against Burger Records’ bands, ultimately resulting in the label shutting down for good — claims that Nobunny engaged in online sexual activity with a 14-year-old despite knowing how old she was. Champlain’s statement begins by acknowledging and taking ownership of his pas...
As theaters have again pushed their planned opening dates in light of the surging pandemic, Disney has announced a massive shakeup of its upcoming release schedule. The biggest news is that the next Star Wars trilogy and the long-awaited Avatar sequels have all been shoved back, as Variety reports. Disney still plans to stick with a Christmas-timed release pattern for Star Wars . The first in the unspecified trio of new movies set in a galaxy far, far away will now debut on December 22nd, 2023, instead of 2022 as originally planned. Each follow-up has also been pushed a year, with the second coming December 19th, 2025 and the third hitting December 17th 2027. It’s still unclear if these films are connected to the movies rumored to be in the works from Rian Joh...
The New Mutants is still targeting an August 28th release, though as a summer blockbuster season looks increasingly unlikely, fans shouldn’t be surprised if there’s yet another delay. Disney/20th Century must have figured fans have waited long enough for a good glimpse at the X-Men horror film, however, as they revealed a whole bunch of new footage during the New Mutants Comic-Con@Home panel — including the opening scene and a power-packed trailer. Moderated by Ira Madison III, the panel virtually brought together writer/director Josh Boone and stars Blu Hunt (Danielle Moonstar/Mirage), Maisie Williams (Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane), Anya Taylor-Joy (Illyana Rasputin/Magik), Charlie Heaton (Sam Guthrie/Cannonball), Henry Zaga (Robert da Costa/Sunspot), and Alice Braga (Dr. Cecil...

Longtime collaborators Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are ready to unveil their newest project. It’s a comedy-horror series called Truth Seekers, set to premiere this fall on Amazon Prime. In Truth Seekers, Frost plays Gus, the leader of a group of part-time paranormal investigators who team up to uncover and film ghost sightings across the UK. “As they stake out haunted churches, underground bunkers and abandoned hospitals with their array of homemade ghost-detecting gizmos, their supernatural experiences grow more frequent, more terrifying and even deadly, as they begin to uncover a conspiracy that could bring about Armageddon for the entire human race,” notes a plot synopsis. For his day job, however, Gus works at a broadband company called Smile, which is where Pegg comes in....
Netflix is getting prehistoric in August 2020. The first three Jurassic Park films are stomping over to the streaming giant, leaving the newly minted confines of Peacock only 17 days after launching. That kind of coup would impress even the likes of Ian Malcolm. That’s not all! Those flicks join an onslaught of legitimate popcorn classics in The Addams Family, The NeverEnding Story, Mad Max, A Knight’s Tale, and Seabiscuit. Okay, maybe that last one is more wine and cheese than buttered popcorn… Hey, speaking of the wine and cheese crowd, Netflix is also bringing some high class cerebral fare. There’s An Education, Being John Malkovich, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and one of our personal favorites in Nightcrawer. In terms of originals, Netflix’s premiering a ton of documentaries...

Back in January, Andy Shauf released his wonderful new concept album The Neon Skyline. The rich narrative introduced a number of characters all coming together at a bar in a single night as it explored the relationship between the narrator and his ex-lover. Today, that story gets fleshed out even further with a pair of B-sides, “Judy” and “Jeremy’s Wedding”. Both songs are dreamy teetering on psychedelic, softly strumming folk numbers that carry the dramatic simplicity of Shauf’s storytelling. “Judy” is of particular interest to the Neon Skyline arc, as it finds Shauf’s narrator recounting a routine he and Judy had while still together of buying lottery tickets every Wednesday night. “What would you buy?” he asks himself on the refrain, dreaming of a big win. “I’d buy a ticket fo...
