Martin Scorsese has boarded Miramax Television’s adaptation of Herbert Asbury’s 1927 non-fiction book The Gangs of New York. According to reports, the revered filmmaker is set to executive produce the possible series as well as direct its first two episodes. Brett Leonard, the playwright and TV writer, has written the script and will co-executive produce alongside Scorsese and his managers, Rick Yorn and Chris Donnelly. The show will be shopped this October. Netflix will launch its new “Basic with Ads” subscription tier next month for a price that is less than half that of the platform’s standard service. The new cheaper ad-supported tier will cost $6.99 USD per month in the U.S., and will initially launch in 12 countries starting in November, the streaming giant announced on Thursday. Heritage Auctions is hosting an auction dedicated to the Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z later this month with a variety of over 200 items unique to the hit anime. Lots will include original printings of Weekly Shōnen Jump, trading cards and production cels from the shows. Hasbro‘s Entertainment One is developing a documentary about the highly-popular roleplaying game, Dungeons & Dragons. The film, which is set to premiere in tandem with the title’s 50th anniversary in 2024, will travel back to the game’s creation in the early 1970s and cover its famous wizards and elves via more than 400 hours of archived footage. Marvel is officially putting a pause on its highly anticipated reboot of Blade. The news has been confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter that the studio is placing the project on hold after the announcement of director Bassim Tariq‘s departure. Fans expected Marvel to immediately announce Tariq’s replacement, however, in the two weeks following the announcement, it is clear that the studio really wants to make sure they get it right. Just hours after Disney announced it was pushing back the premiere of Marvel Studios‘ Blade, Warner Bros. revealed that Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune: Part 2 will open in theaters on the Marvel pic’s original premiere date, November 3, 2023.
