As we near the end of July, Netflix has unveiled its slate of new and original programming for August 2022. Next month’s list is led by the premiere of The Sandman, an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s famed comic book series. Subscribers can also catch the new seasons of Locke & Key, Untold and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, plus classic films such as Bridget Jones’s Diary, 8 Mile, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Space Jam and Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. The revelation came from the book They Shouldn’t Have Killed His Dog: The Complete Uncensored Ass-Kicking Oral History of John Wick, Gun Fu, and the New Age of Action, written by the movie franchise’s producer Basil Iwanyk. Jordan Peele briefly opened up about possibly creating a sequel to his directorial debut Get Out, stating that there is a chance it will be made. Speaking to the Associated Press in a new interview for his upcoming film NOPE, which hits theaters July 22, the filmmaker shared that he receives a lot of questions about whether or not he will create a followup to Oscar-winner. “Never say never,” he said. “There’s certainly a lot to talk about left. Desus & Mero will not be returning for a fifth season, Showtime confirmed after much speculation. In a statement, the network revealed that hosts Desus Nice and The Kid Mero will be parting way to pursue “separate creative endeavors moving forward.” The network continued, “Showtime’s late-night talk show Desus & Mero will not be returning for a fifth season. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has shared his thoughts on the future of linear TV, meaning, the classic system where a viewer watches a show when it airs on its original channel. “It’s definitely the end of linear TV over the next five to 10 years,” Hastings said during an investor’s call on Tuesday while talking about Netflix’s subscriber results for Q2. Although Netflix lost nearly a million subscribers in Q2, it continues to come out on top as the biggest streaming service in the world.
