Nintendo has officially announced that it will be acquiring Japanese CG animation company Dynamo Pictures, which will soon be renamed “Nintendo Pictures.” Dynamo has previously worked with Nintendo on its popular Pikmin Short Movies series as well as the game Metroid Other M. Outside of projects with Nintendo, it has also had its hand in the development of  Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Netflix‘s Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, and more. “Nintendo has decided to acquire 100% of the outstanding shares (excluding treasury shares) of Dynamo Pictures and make it a wholly owned subsidiary to strengthen the planning and production structure of visual content in the Nintendo Group,” reads the official documentation. Those who have seen the film may have noticed that the two giant goats, Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder, sounded a little funny. In celebration of the massive success of Breaking Bad, the New Mexico city of Albuquerque is now erecting statues of the show’s two main characters Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul). The statues were commissioned by the critically acclaimed show’s creator Vince Gilligan himself back in 2019 and have now been gifted to the city’s government due to his desire to “give something back” to the location where the show was set. “Over the course of 15 years, two TV shows and one movie, Albuquerque has been wonderful to us,” Gilligan said, hoping the statues will be able to attract more tourism to the city. A new series from Apple TV+ will chronicle the life of game changing automaker Enzo Ferrari. Aptly titled Ferrari, the show has been ordered straight to series for the streamer. Created by Steven Knight, who is behind the hit show Peaky Blinders, the series is inspired by a 2016 biography of Enzo, Ferrari Rex, by Luca Dal Monte. Set between 1956 and 1961, the drama series will tackle the tragic events of Enzo’s life, including the death of his first born son, intertwined with his aim to build the fastest racing car in the world. David Beckham will be the subject of a new untitled Netflix docuseries, with Oscar-winners Fisher Stevens and John Battsek on board as director and executive producer, respectively. The series is currently in production and will showcase Beckham’s “humble working-class beginnings in East London, and the drive and determination that led him to become one of the most recognizable and scrutinized athletes of all time,” according to the official synopsis. Netflix‘s Squid Game has made Primetime Emmy Awards history, becoming the first non-English series to be nominated for Outstanding Drama. The Korean drama series was an instantaneous hit worldwide and has been well-reflected with its 14 nominations. Lee Jung-jae has also received a nod for Outstanding Lead Actor. This year, the streaming giant came out swinging, a top contender in many major categories in comparison to other streaming companies.
