Following the release of the first teaser trailer for the spin-off Disney+ series, National Treasure: Edge of History, film producer Jerry Bruckheimer reveals that development for National Treasure 3 is still going forward. In a recent interview with Comicbook, Buckheimer touches upon plans for the highly-anticipated return of Nicolas Cage’s character Ben Franklin Gates. “Let’s hope we’re working on the script right now. Hopefully [Cage] likes it, but it’s really good. So I think we’ll get it to him shortly,” he said. Sony is reportedly tapping X-Men: First Class writer Sheldon Turner to adapt Days Gone into a film, with Outlanders‘ Sam Heughan set to star as the lead. Cineworld, the owner of Regal Cinemas, is considering filing for bankruptcy in the United States. The British conglomerate operates 9,518 screens across 790 sites and is the second-largest movie theater chain, following AMC. In a statement released on Monday, Cineworld said that a “voluntary Chapter 11 filing in the United States” is among the “strategic options” the company is considering as it seeks to grapple with its debt burden. Cineworld attributed its financial struggles to lower admissions at theaters due to a limited lineup of films. After months of anticipation, HBO officially aired the first episode of Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon on Sunday night. Despite some technical issues with fans watching through Amazon Fire Stick, the network reports that the series premiere was its biggest of all time, recording 9.986 million viewers across linear airings and HBO Max streams on opening night in the US alone.
