If you’re looking to subscribe to Netflix‘s upcoming ad-free tier, it now appears that you might be able to watch new movies without being interrupted. According to a new report from Bloomberg, Netflix will not be implementing ads when streamers are watching movies that are newly released in an attempt to keep the platform attractive for filmmakers who might be afraid that audiences would be put off by mid-film interruptions. Netflix has dropped off the first-look images for its upcoming murder-mystery film, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, directed by Rian Johnson. The movie, which will arrive as a follow-up to 2019’s Knives Out, sees Daniel Craig reprise his role as detective Benoit Blanc, who must travel to the Mediterranean in order to solve a new mystery. In the latest news to come out of HBO, the network is placing a large bet on their Game of Thrones spinoff series, House of the Dragon. Recently, Deadline reported that to gear up for the premiere of House of the Dragon, HBO spent over $100 million USD on marketing, making it its largest campaign ever. Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald, the showrunners of Netflix‘s Cobra Kai series, are developing a spinoff of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off over at Paramount Pictures. According to reports, the project will be entitled Sam and Victor’s Day Off and will follow the valets from the 1986 film, who were not given official names in the original, as they took the Ferrari on a joyride. The two characters were played by Richard Edson and the late Larry “Flash” Jenkins. The main cast and any special guest appearances are yet to be confirmed. According to reports, July 2022 marked streaming’s fifth consecutive high in its share of TV usage, making up 34.8%. THR notes that the jump from June’s 33.7% was pushed by the release of the Stranger Things Season 4 Part 2, which earned 18 billion minutes of viewing time in July, along with shows like The Umbrella Academy and The Boys.
