Batman fans who have yet to transition to current-gen consoles will be disappointed to learn that Warner Bros. Games‘ upcoming Gotham Knights open-world RPG will not be coming to the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. The company’s Montreal studio has revealed that the anticipated title revolving around Batman’s sidekicks and prodigies will now launch exclusively on current-gen consoles across the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S as well as PC instead of also supporting previous-gen devices. According to Warner Bros., the decision was made in order to create “the best possible gaming experience” for fans. Perhaps as consolation, the studio also released a 13-minute gameplay trailer offering fans a first look at how the game will run. The trailer focuses on both Nightwing and Red Hood, showca...
Leading e-sports gear company Razer has introduced the sequel to its ultra-light Viper gaming mouse with additional weight reductions and tech upgrades. While maintaining its award-winning form, the new wireless Viper V2 Pro reduces its weight by 20% (16g) to just 64g without the addition of any noticeable exterior changes such as the hollow honeycomb patterns found in many modern gaming mice. Built for first-person-shooters, the flick-friendly design is highlighted by a new Focus Pro 30K optical sensor that boasts 99.8 percent accuracy, AI-assisted tracking, and 30,000 dots per inch resolution. Third-gen optical mouse switches ensure click accuracy and responsiveness, and an asymmetric cut-off function allows users to set 26 granular levels of height adjustments compared to only three in ...
If you’re one of the many people still waiting to get your hands on a PlayStation 5 at retail, you might be in luck soon. According to Sony’s latest financial report, the Japanese tech and gaming giant is expecting to increase shipments for the highly coveted console significantly over the remainder of the year. In fact, it estimates that shipments will increase by a whopping 56% year-over-year, which hopefully means gamers and enthusiasts will finally be able to purchase the PS5 at retail prices instead of having to submit to predatory prices from scalpers. The news also brings more optimism for the industry in general, as it suggests that the global semiconductor shortage might finally be slowing down. Issues with microchip production during the pandemic have caused havoc across many sec...
EA Sports has offered new details and first looks for its F1 22 game set to release later this summer. One of the biggest updates is the addition of the Miami International Autodrome, which the teams competed at for the first time ever over the weekend for the inaugural Miami Grand Prix. The tracks in Australia and Abu Dhabi will also feature circuit layout changes and PC players will be able to experience it all in virtual reality via Oculus Rift and HTC Vive for the first time. Other new features include a Sprint Race format, a 100km dash with no mandatory pit stops which debuted last year at the British Grand Prix, and the game has been altered to be more friendly to players of all levels, with adaptive AI now reacting differently to players’ speed and position on the tracks. Closing de...

Microsoft first announced that it was making an Xbox game streaming stick, as well as a streaming app for smart TVs, last June. Although the company hasn’t offered any information on development progress, a new report suggests that both the streaming stick and app will be available to gamers sometime in 2023. The cloud-gaming streaming device, which can be plugged into a TV or monitor, will look like either “an Amazon Fire Stick or perhaps a small, Roku-like puck,” according to GamesBeat. The device will allow its user to access movies and TV shows, in addition to games via the company’s Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription service. An accompanying game streaming app, meanwhile, will be the joint endeavor of Microsoft and partner Samsung. Those with Samsung smart TVs may be able to use the...

A 24-carat gold-plated Nintendo Wii that was originally made for Queen Elizabeth II in 2009 is now up for auction, according to Kotaku. Dutch collector and Consolevariations owner Donny Fillerup is auctioning the famous device, which now-bankrupt developer THQ had intended to deliver to the Queen. However, the device never actually made it inside Buckingham Palace due to an “understandably strict” royal gifting policy, according to the listing. The studio held onto the golden Wii, which was created as a promotional component for the mini-game series Big Family Games, until its bankruptcy filing in 2013, when it was purchased by a private buyer. In 2017, Fillerup then purchased the device from the unnamed owner. Fillerup attempted to sell the 24-carat gaming system on eBay in Octo...
Halo Infinite has transitioned into its second season. Pooling the feedback of the game’s 20 million players to date, developer 343 Industries has awarded gamers with a packed lineup of content updates, including the arrival of a 4-player co-op campaign. In addition to numerous bug fixes, season two introduced a slew of new modes. In King of the Hill, two teams of four players each compete to control a neutral zone on the map called the Hill. Once the Hill is captured, the controlling team will receive a point and a new zone appears at another location on the map. Attrition, which was introduced in last season’s Cyber Showdown event, has been made available in the Quick Play and Bot Bootcamp playlists and in Custom Games. The mode sees two teams of four players face off with a shared pool ...
