‘Call of Duty’ is Reportedly Taking a Year Off in 2023

According to a new Bloomberg report, Activision Blizzard Inc. is delaying the annual release of its new Call of Duty game originally set to arrive in 2023. If realized, the move will mark the first time the mainline franchise will have skipped a year since 2005. While many have speculated that the delay has something to do with the recent $69 billion USD Microsoft acquisition, reports indicate that Activision made the decision autonomously, and the reason is due to the uncharacteristically poor performance of Call of Duty: Vanguard and worries of oversaturation as players opt to stick with past versions of the game. Now reportedly set for 2024, Treyarch has an extra year of breathing room to develop the new Call of Duty title. To fill the void, reports confirm a new “free-to-play online” g...

Twitch Looks To Help Streamers Earn Revenue With New Ads Incentive Program

Twitch has launched a new program to help creators derive an income from ad revenue. The initiative — called Ads Incentive Program, or AIP — gives select partners the opportunity to stream for a specific number of hours while simultaneously running ads for a flat monetary rate. Using the Ads Manager dashboard, those included in the program will have the option to accept incentive offers. An example offer, for instance, would be to stream for 40 hours during the month and run two minutes of ads per hour in exchange for a $100 USD payout. Once they accept an offer, users will be accepted to stream according to its conditions, though they can still opt-out at any time and receive a prorated payment for the hours already streamed. At the end of the month, streamers can collect their payment fr...

Bethesda Is Shutting Down Its PC Game Launcher

Unfortunately for fans of Bethesda, the developer will soon be shutting down its PC game launcher. According to Engadget, the Microsoft-owned studio is planning on ceasing operations for its own game launcher by May, and gamers will have access to the service until then. Of course, it won’t mean you’ll lose access to your games: beginning from April, you’ll be able to move your game collection over to Steam, including your Bethesda friends list as well. While nearly all save data will be transferable, you’ll need to manually copy some of the save files over to your Steam folder. It’s important to note that for the time being, Wolfenstein: Youngblood saves will not be functional over on Steam, and Fallout 76 players will have to renew their subscriptions manually over on Stea...

Take a First Look at PlayStation’s New VR2 Headset and Sense Controller

PlayStation has revealed the design of its next-generation VR headset, the PlayStation VR2. The headset arrived alongside a new PS VR2 Sense controller, with both pieces of hardware taking on a matching “orb” look to represent the 360-degree view of the virtual reality world. The design was also inspired by the look of the PS5 family of products. “When our design team created the PS5 console, they also had the next generation VR headset in mind so you’ll notice some similarities in the look and feel,” Hideaki Nishino, Senior Vice President of Platform Experience, wrote in a blog post. Since the PS5 console has flat edges to sit evenly on a surface, product designers wanted to emphasize the roundness of the VR2 headset. “Our goal is to create a headset that will not only become an attractiv...
