With the massive popularity of PC Game Pass, Valve says it’s open to helping Microsoft bring the feature over onto Steam. Speaking about the company’s own video game storefront with PC Gamer, Valve CEO Gabe Newell revealed that the digital distributor has no plans to create a subscription service for now, but that it would be happy to work with Microsoft to incorporate its PC Game Pass. “I don’t think it’s something that we think we need to do ourselves, building a subscription service at this time,” Newell explained. “But for their customers, it’s clearly a popular option, and we’d be more than happy to work with them to get that on Steam.” In fact, there have already been talks between the two gaming giants, but Newell shared no concrete plans to secure the partnership just yet. “We...
Nintendo has now pulled Super Smash Bros. from EVO 2022. According to the tournament organizers, the gaming company has decided to no longer allow their game to be played or broadcasted for the event this year. “We want to let you know in advance that Super Smash Bros. will not be making a return appearance,” the organizers tweeted. “Since 2007, we’ve seen historic Super Smash Bros. moments created at EVO’s events. We are saddened that Nintendo has chosen not to continue that legacy with us this year.” Nintendo’s decision to withdraw Super Smash Bros. titles from the annual fighting game event comes following a partnership announced back in November last year with Panda Global, which will help the Japanese gaming giant host its own competitive circuit based around the g...

Competitive platforming dodgeball game Knockout City is turning free-to-play a year after its original launch. Available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and the Nintendo Switch, Knockout City launched last year under EA‘s publishing, and is now on its fifth and final season for the year. As the game’s first year comes to an end, developer Velan Studios is hoping to make a few changes, including taking back publishing duties from EA itself and making the game completely free to play. While there’s no precise date as to when the game will transition into its second year, the company says the shift will take place this spring, so those looking to try out the title will be able to do so completely free of charge once season six begins. Of course, Velan Studios also took time to thank its curren...

Specific details revolving around the acquisition remain scarce, but the deal is expected to close on April 1. An Activision Blizzard shareholder is now suing the developer over its recent sale to Microsoft. According to new reports, a shareholder by the name of Kyle Watson alleges that Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard is “unfair for a number of reasons,” one of which includes the argument that the developer’s board is simply hoping to “procure for themselves and senior management… significant and immediate benefits.” He goes on to claim that the deal may constitute a conflict of interest, and that it “is not in the best interest” of the company because it will only “produce lucrative benefits for the officers and directors” at the expense of its shareholders. The suit also highlighted the “golden parachute” that CEO Bobby Kotick has if he were to be fired. So far, Activision Blizzard...
