Sony Launches a PS5 Code Hunt Giveaway

Despite struggling with demand due to the ongoing global chip shortage issue, Sony has now announced an interesting giveaway for the PlayStation 5. The company describes the “Treat Codes” giveaway as “a contest that puts you and fellow gamers at the center of a globe-spanning code hunt.” From now until March 7, 1 p.m. EDT, Sony will be sharing 14 unique codes that will offer gamers a chance to win a PS5 through various channels. During the last Nintendo Direct event earlier this month, Nintendo announced that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will be receiving a whole roster of new tracks and circuits via an upcoming paid DLC, but now it appears players will be able to access those maps as well even without paying. According to Eurogamer, the Japanese gaming giant’s U.K. website revealed that those on Mario Kart 8 will be able to race others on the upcoming maps even if they don’t own the DLC themselves, but the feature comes with a few caveats. Shiro Games has unveiled a gameplay trailer for its upcoming Dune: Spice Wars game. First revealed at the 2021 Game Awards, Dune: Spice Wars is the first game in the franchise in 20 years and is billed as a “real-time strategy game with 4X elements, from the developers of the critically acclaimed Northgard.” The title, set in Frank Herbert’s epic universe, will require players to “lead your faction and battle for control and dominance over the harsh desert planet of Arrakis.” The trailer also shows that in addition to political warfare, players will need to be cautious of their physical environment with the threats of a Sandworm attacking their units. Nintendo Announces eShop Discontinuation for the 3DS and Wii U

Nintendo has just announced that it will be ending its eShop support for the 3DS and Wii U. This news applies to all consoles under the 3DS umbrella — the New Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS XL, New Nintendo 2DS XL, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL, Nintendo 2DS, Wii U Deluxe — as well as the Wii U Basic. This will end all free content like demo games, and will also end all credit card transactions linked to the eShop for the systems. Any credit balance in users’ Nintendo Network ID will be pushed to the Nintendo Switch family of systems. When New York Times announced the acquisition of the online word game Wordle, the publication promised fans that it would not alter any aspects of the game. However, despite its claims, it seems as if Wordle has faced some new changes. The Guardian journalist Alex Hern took to Twitter to make note of the alterations that she noticed on the game. After releasing an operator skin for Attack on Titan‘s squad captain Levi Ackerman back in January, Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone Pacific are now following up with a second bundle, this time featuring an Armored Titan. The leaked images came from Call of Duty insider @CharlieIntel via Twitter and showcase the Armored Titan skin for Roland Zeimet that’ll come as part of a new Tracer Pack for the game. ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Releases on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S

Developers CD Projekt Red has announced the release of the open-world game Cyberpunk 2077 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S as part of its next-gen patch 1.5 update. As promised previously, PS4 and Xbox One players will get the updated version for free. While Cyberpunk 2077‘s debut was nothing short of disastrous for console, running so poorly that Sony and Microsoft both offered refunds to players, CD Projekt Red has since then made a large number of bug fixes and the next patch promises a new beginning. The game is expected to run smoothly at 4K at 60 frames per second on performance mode for PS5 and Xbox X players.
