Shortly after unveiling the upcoming game’s main villain, the team behind Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy has now shed more light on why they chose Star-Lord to be the only playable character, a decision that has brought controversy among fans. In a recent interview with VG247, the game’s senior creative director Jean-François Dugas explained that the team wanted players to be more immersed within the team instead of being pulled out to a more controlling, top-down view of the Guardians. “Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Drax, and Groot ooze with personality. We wanted players to be at the center stage of that dynamic,” Dugas said. “Therefore, the question became, ‘What if players are one of the Guardians? What if we put them in the shoes of the ‘so-called’ leader, and let them make the bi...
Fans of Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding might have some hope for a sequel as Norman Reedus, aka Sam Porter Bridges, has revealed that a follow-up could be in the works. In a translated interview from Brazil’s AdoroCinema, Reedus mentions, “I think we’re doing a second Death Stranding. [The game] is in negotiations right now. So… Yay!” While the translation does say a second game is coming, the Portuguese translation could be referring to a new expansion or more DLC — much like the upcoming Director’s Cut Digital Deluxe Edition that’s arriving at the end of next month. Other sources seem to think that the translation from Reedus is entirely accurate and that a sequel is on its way in the coming future. Due to the success of the game and Kojima’s track record for further developing storylines...
Sony recently released a revised edition of its PlayStation 5, and now a teardown video has revealed the differences between the new edition and its predecessor. In a new video published yesterday, YouTuber Austin Evans managed to get hold of one of the revised PlayStation 5 models, which he promptly took apart. Breaking down the differences between the old and new models, Evans discovers that the heatsink of the revised edition is significantly smaller than its predecessor. While it does shave weight by around 0.66lb, it does also increase the device’s running temperature by a couple of degrees. Aside from the heatsink, there are also a few minor changes between the editions, although none of them should really have a significant impact on the consoles’ performances. Connections to the Wi...
Netflix has offered games on its platform for the first time as part of a first, tentative trial in Poland. Two titles based on Netflix’s own hit sci-fi show, Stranger Things, are available to download and play to Polish subscribers using Android devices to access the platform. While Stranger Things:1984 and Stranger Things 3 are the first titles to go up, it’s clear that Netflix sees a future in bringing gaming to the platform. Going forward, the Netflix Geeked Twitter account promises no ads, no in-app purchases and games included as part of a regular Netflix membership. Let’s talk Netflix and gaming. Today members in Poland can try Netflix mobile gaming on Android with two games, Stranger Things: 1984 and Stranger Things 3. It’s very, very early days and we’ve got a lot of work to do in...
Everyone from Lara Croft to Master Chief has made an appearance in Fortnite along the way, but that didn’t prepare anyone for the game’s latest interactive event surrounding the legacy of civil rights activist, Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Creating in partnership with Time, the March Through Time event offers players the chance to relive Dr King’s 17-minute “I Have a Dream” speech in a recreation of the Lincoln Memorial and National Mall called D.C. 63, created by Fortnite Creative community members. While eight dedicated emotes are made available to players participating in the event, the use of legacy emotes, not to mention four years worth of skins from every corner of the metaverse, has attracted criticism of players being “disrespectful” during the speech. As such Epic Games has now disa...

Two months after announcing the game, Square Enix has now unveiled the main villain for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, a similar action-adventure title to last year’s Marvel’s Avengers. Making his debut in a two-minute cinematic trailer (which you can view above), Grand Unifier Raker presents himself to the Guardians of the Galaxy crew, welcoming the misfit group of heroes to the Universal Church of Truth, described by the game as “a mysterious organization intent on bringing their so-called ‘Promise’ to the whole galaxy.” In an exchange with Starlord, Raker also mentions the Matriarch, which comic book fans will know is the second-highest ranking member of the enigmatic Church, just after Magus. As the Guardians’ ship gets drawn in by a tractor beam, the trailer ends with one enco...
As California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing continues to investigate the alleged toxic work culture and gender discrimination within video game developer and publisher Activision Blizzard, the state regulators are now accusing the company of shredding evidence that proves its claims. According to new reports, the DFEH claims that Activision Blizzard’s human resources team began destroying documents within the company that pertains to the ongoing inquiry, an act which is illegal in itself as the developer is required by law to provide such documentation to the state. The DFEH also revealed that it is expanding its investigation to cover not just permanent employees at the company but also temporary workers following Activision Blizzard’s lack of cooperation. The updated allega...
