Facebook Gaming Expands Free Music Usage to Protect Creators
Facebook Gaming streamers now have more access to licensed music without fear of their content being taken down. Facebook recently revealed that two tiers of creators on their platform will be given access to a large library of popular music to use in their streams. Users in both the Level Up and Partner tiers can now use music from major labels in the background of their streams. For those unfamiliar with the platform: streamers are able to obtain Partner and Level Up status via a combination of activity, number of followers, and time spent streaming, similar to how Twitch operates its Affiliate Program. Amid increasing legal pressure from Rockstar Games‘ holding company Take-Two Interactive, a team of modders have now been forced to shut down a Grand Theft Auto mod they’ve spent six years working on. Named GTA Underground, the ambitious mod was built for San Andreas and attempted to merge all previous GTA maps into one massive open-world experience. Roblox Introduces Voice Chat With ‘Spatial Voice’ Beta
Roblox is introducing a new voice chat feature called “Spatial Voice,” starting with an invitation-only beta for select developers, the gaming platform announced on Thursday. “With Spatial Voice, Roblox creators will begin to test developing experiences where conversations can happen in a realistic way, mirroring how we listen and respond to the world around us each day,” Roblox’s chief product officer Manuel Bronstein wrote in a blog post. The feature will likely require users’ avatars to be close to one another in order to hold a conversation, based on the company’s “realistic” approach to in-game voice chat. A leaked roster for the Smash Bros-inspired game Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has given fans a look into the game’s roster of fighters, Kotaku first reported. An icon for the forthcoming game on the Nintendo Switch e-shop served as the initial source of the accidental leak. Enlarged and shared on Twitter, the image shows Avatar characters Aang and Korra, alongside SpongeBob, Ren, Stimpy and more. The full fighter roster is made up of fan favorites from classic Nickelodeon shows, and also includes Danny Phantom, CatDog and some of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, among other characters, according to Kotaku.
