With the announcement of the final DLC character, support for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate might be coming to an end. According to reports, director Masahiro Sakurai confirmed in his recent Famitsu column that Tekken character Kazuya Mishima will be the second to the last Ultimate DLC character. One more character, who is unknown at this point, will be released following Kazuya and Challenger Pack #2 will be completed. Many fans are hoping for a third Challenger Pack, however Sakurai has repeatedly said that it is not in the cards. If Nintendo does not release Challenger Pack #3, this most likely means that support for the game, with the exception of a few patches, will also wrap up. ComicBook shares that fans should take this with a grain salt as Sakurai’s words could have been lost in tran...

Purveyor of old-school arcade games Arcade1Up has presented its two latest home arcade cabinets — one of which features Street Fighter II, the other of which supplies Turtles In Time, a classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game. Both games are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, so either choice is an apt one for the die-hard arcade gamer or ’80s baby who grew up dumping endless amounts of quarters into arcade machines. Each game is three-fourths the size of a full-size arcade machine, providing most of the same big and bold experience with less of the bulk. Each features original full-color detailing, and Street Fighter II can accommodate two players while Turtles In Time can host up to four players. Dubbed “Big Blue,” the Street Fighter II cabinet also contains 11 other classic...
With an ever-growing interest in Pokémon trading cards, a group of professional hackers decided to meddle with the 18-year-old site, PokeBeach, in an attempt to blackmail the site’s creator, Jon Sahagian. The hackers tampered with the popular Pokémon TCG site last week as they deleted approximately two decades of files from the servers and continued to run scripts in order to remove backup files. According to Sahagian, also known as Water Pokémon Master, the hackers aimed to hold a copy of the site hostage in exchange for payment. Their efforts were halted by the site’s hosts right after the backup files have been deleted, so the site’s archive of news articles, forum posts and user data were not affected. “I consider PokeBeach a monument to the Pokemon TCG,” stated Sahagian in the explana...

Dead Space fans will be delighted to learn that there might be a new title for the franchise in development. The rumors first surfaced from writer Jeff Grubb over at Venture Beat, who said during the outlet’s GamesBeat Decides podcast that Electronic Arts will be announcing the franchise’s revival during its Play Event scheduled for July 22. The news was then built upon by both Eurogamer and Gematsu, with Grubb also confirming those reports. He went on to claim that the new Dead Space title will be developed by EA’s Motive Studios and feature a full remake and reboot of the franchise, drawing inspiration from what CAPCOM did with Resident Evil 2. While EA itself has not confirmed or commented on the rumors, other users have also noticed that the game’s official YouTube ...

A surprising slew of abandoned creatures in the Pokémon GO smartphone game have been found roaming the streets of the Bagram Airfield military base following the pullout of U.S. troops from Afghanistan. The game established a whole Pokémon GO community of troops, contractors and civilians during downtime as it allowed players to walk around real-life areas to catch or battle digital creatures found in the app’s map. According to screenshots secured by the U.S. military news site Stars and Stripes, a number of Pokémon have been left behind with some of them still remaining at their posts waiting for their owner’s return. “We weren’t expecting Pokémon GO to be thriving in Bagram, and yet it was,” indicated U.S. Army Spc. Corey Olsen, an electrical technician for attack helicopters. Troops an...
Atari has now announced a shift in direction for its games development, moving away from free-to-play mobile titles to instead focus on more premium console and PC experiences. The company intends on either discontinuing or selling five of its current games including RollerCoaster Tycoon Story, Crystal Castles, Castles & Catapults, Ninja Golf and Atari Combat: Tank Fury, although it maintains that its “successful” titles that have a “loyal user base” will be retained. The move will further align the classic gaming company with its recent VCS console release, with the company looking to develop the project in the long term. “Our intent with any gaming experience is to provide accessible and joyful moments of meaningful play,” said Atari CEO Wade J. Rosen. “That’...
A handful of FaZe Clan members have now been tied to a cryptocurrency pump-and-dump scheme involving a child-oriented charity and initiative. According to new reports, four members of the Esports group participated in a crypto project named Save the Kids, which promised to donate one percent of each transaction fee of its KIDS token to various foundations supporting the welfare of children. The charity’s creators managed to get several influencers from FaZe Clan to help promote the program prior to its launch in June, but the price of the altcoin subsequently crashed by 90 percent. Those involved have denied any ill intent, and that it was simply a vetting mistake when the idea was pitched to the group. FaZe Clan has since released a statement on Twitter saying that it had “absolutely no i...
If you’re a fan of Star Wars Squadrons but you’re feeling desire for more, you’re now in luck: a group of fans of 1994’s cult classic TIE Fighter has now remade the game with (relatively) modernized graphics. Titled TIE Fighter: Total Conversion, the new remake is actually not based on the ‘94 game itself but a modded version of its sequel X-Wing Alliance. The project has already been in development for several years and is now finally complete. It includes a wholly “reimagined” campaign mode that spans across 37 missions and brings in “more ships” for even “bigger battles.” Aside from widescreen resolutions, it even supports a VR mode for those looking for a truly immersive space dogfighting experience. The soundtrack has also been remastered, although if you’re feeling nos...
