Rock the Boat: EDC Reveals New Floating Music Festival, EDSea

EDC is making waves—literally. Insomniac Events’ beloved festival brand is taking to the seas after its founder and CEO, Pasquale Rotella, revealed a brand new nautical event, EDSea. As maritime music festivals grow in popularity, it should come as no surprise that EDC is rocking the boat. The four-night EDSea event enters a market with a number of well-established players, like Groove Cruise and FriendShip. But Insomniac already owns and operates its own EDM cruise excursion, Holy Ship! Wrecked, so the renowned promoter isn’t exactly entering uncharted waters. EDSea’s maiden voyage on the Norwegian Joy kicks off on November 4th, 2023. The ship will depart from Miami and sail to Nassau for an “exclusive island party” before heading to the private island of Gre...

22 Images That Illustrate the Stupefying Sights of EDC Orlando 2022

We’re running out of superlatives for EDC. What more can be said of Insomniac’s flagship festival brand at this point? It’s long been a lynchpin of the electronic music community, but even though EDC is considered the apotheosis of dance music hedonism, its architects are seemingly hellbent on raising the bar year after year. And after this year’s fest in Orlando, the star of EDC’s legend somehow got even brighter. There was no ambiguity when it came to Insomniac’s commitment to fan experiences. Tinker Field became an adult playground where ravers could frolic through swaths of giant mushrooms by day before they transformed into polychromatic art installations by night. Towering LED daises glittered beneath the night sky, which ultimately became a c...

Harm Reduction Resources Are Coming to All Insomniac Music Festivals

The nation’s preeminent electronic music festival organizer, Insomniac Events, has announced a partnership with End Overdose, an organization spreading awareness of the opioid crisis. End Overdose will now have a presence at all Insomniac festivals, according to the company’s CEO, Pasquale Rotella. The nonprofit will provide educational resources and safety supplies, including Narcan kits, to combat onsite opioid overdose. The kits can quickly reverse the effects of an opioid overdose by administering Naloxone, a synthetic drug that blocks opiate receptors in the nervous system. “Accidental deaths from opioids and fentanyl are happening in our schools, in our homes, at festivals & in our communities,” reads a statement issued by Rotella. “This is an issue ...

House Music All Day: Day Trip’s 2nd Annual Festival Was a Lush, Glittering Oasis

House music is actually good for you. Researchers maintain that the ideal human tempo is 120 BPM, which just so happens to be the sweet spot for house music. Born in the clubs of Chicago in the 1980s, it’s no surprise that the genre is now breaking into the mainstream. After Drake and Beyonce each dropped their own house-inspired records earlier this month, it’s looking like house music is the soundtrack of the summer. One such brand elevating house music is Insomniac‘s Day Trip. Created in 2018 with the simple mantra of “House Music All Day Long,” Day Trip is now known for its epic parties featuring fishbowls, palm trees and house music from all walks of life.
