Wavves have announced a summer tour to celebrate the 12th anniversary of their seminal album King of the Beach. The shows were originally planned for the record’s 10th birthday in 2020, but were pushed back due to the pandemic. The tour kicks off on July 21 in Ventura, California and sees the garage rock band stopping in major cities across the U.S. and Canada before concluding on August 27 in Los Angeles. Pooh Shiesty, the 22-year-old rapper born Lontrell Williams, has been sentenced to five years in prison for his Florida gun conspiracy conviction in Miami Federal Court, Rolling Stone reports. In January, Shiesty pleaded guilty to one federal charge of conspiracy to possess a firearm in furtherance of violent and drug-trafficking crimes. The rapper originally faced a total of four charges, but three charges that could have resulted in a life-in-prison sentence were dropped. The charges stemmed from an October 2020 incident near Miami, where Shiesty was accused of participating in a robbery where two men were shot and injured. President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama’s media company Higher Ground is ending its exclusive podcast deal with Spotify, Bloomberg reports and Pitchfork has learned. The Obamas are reportedly shopping around for a different podcasting partner to replace Spotify when the agreement ends in October 2022. Spotify declined to make a new offer to the Obamas as they reportedly pursue deals with companies including Amazon and iHeartMedia. The multi-year deal was originally signed back in 2019.
