How Madeon and a Team of Architects Designed the Hallucinatory “Good Faith” Experience—And Blew Everyone’s Mind

They say ideas grow better when transplanted into another mind—and Madeon has four of them.  The French electronic music virtuoso, whose real name is Hugo Leclercq, is currently on his “Good Faith Forever” tour, where he’s been baffling ravers with a new, pupil-popping stage production. But just like any groundbreaking show, there’s more to it than meets the eye.  Four visual artists, Shinichiro Fujita, OSEAN, Mollie Tarlow and Mike Kluge, function as the brainstem of “Good Faith Forever” as well as its illusory encore, which finds Madeon lifted atop a giant cylindrical structure as his silhouette morphs into the tour’s phantasmagoric imagery. Their cerebral work, Leclercq says, has shaped not only the tour, but also his own cre...

Martin Garrix Drops Opening Track From Ultra 2022 Set, “Good Morning”: Listen

Martin Garrix simply cannot stop releasing new music. The last few weeks have been prolific for the Dutch dance music luminary, who has been releasing new tracks at a furious pace as he rolls out his debut club album, Sentio. The latest to arrive from the record has now arrived in the form of “Good Morning,” a monster single with frequent collaborators Matisse & Sadko. While the trio of producers typically go the progressive house route, like in “Hold On” and “Forever,” they’ve opted for a grittier feel this time around. “Good Morning” is a stomping electro tune with a downright nasty drop. It’s so high in energy that Garrix has been playing it out as the opening track in his recent live sets, like his wild performance at...

JIMMY PAGE Is Working On ‘Multiple’ Projects: ‘I’ll Leave It To Your Imagination’

Jimmy Page says that he is working on “multiple” projects. Although the LED ZEPPELIN guitarist reportedly turned down an offer to contribute a guest solo to Ozzy Osbourne‘s new album, he has since revealed that he hasn’t been sitting idle. “There’s various things I’m working towards,” Page told Classic Rock magazine in a new interview. “It’s not just one thing, it’s multiple things, and I don’t want to even give a hint, because if you do … you give a one-sentence sound bite, and then if it doesn’t materialize, it’s like: ‘Why didn’t you do a solo album?’ So I don’t want to say what it is that I’ve got planned, because I don’t want to give people the chance to misinterpret...

PAPA ROACH’s JACOBY SHADDIX On ‘Last Resort’: It’s ‘A Cult Classic And A Best-Seller Wrapped Into One’

In a recent interview with Nik Nocturnal, PAPA ROACH frontman Jacoby Shaddix spoke about how the band’s classic 2000 song “Last Resort” has sparked so many memes over the years. “It’s everywhere, dude,” he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). “It’s even in my house, with my kids. It’s funny, dude. It’s one of those things that, honestly, I’m absolutely grateful for because we have a cult classic and a best-seller wrapped into one. And in meme culture, people take the piss out of it, and I love it, ’cause it means that you’ve made it into the fabric of pop culture and we’re part of the landscape of what people are talking about still. And what else can you ask for? It’s such a great thing. And ev...

How Afrobeats Artists Are Using Fashion To Tell Us Who They Are

This piece was created in partnership with Afro Nation. Billboard and Afro Nation recently launched the first-ever official Billboard Afrobeats U.S. Songs Chart, tracking the most popular rising new music in the rapidly growing genre. The 50-position Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart, which went live last month on Billboard.com, ranks the most popular Afrobeat songs in the country based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of leading audio and video music services, plus download sales from top music retailers. When alté music, a genre defined by its inability to be conclusively defined as it moves through different genres and maintains a highly experimental form, began to enter mainstream Afrobeats music in the late 2010s,...
