Portishead to Livestream Rare Concert to Benefit Ukraine
Portishead will regroup next month for their first show in 7 years, playing a short set as part of a War Child benefit concert supporting relief efforts in Ukraine. The 1200 tickets for the show, which takes place in the band’s Bristol hometown, will be raffled off in pairs, but everyone who enters will gain access to a livestream. (A single entry is free for those who send a postcard to a UK address—see more below.) Donating £10, or around $13, creates three entries. Enter here before 7 p.m. on April 24. Nine Inch Nails will replace Foo Fighters as the Friday headliner at next month’s Boston Calling Festival. Foo Fighters canceled all of their upcoming tour dates, including their appearance at Boston Calling, following the tragic death of drummer Taylor Hawkins. Instead, Nine Inch Nails will now close out Boston Calling’s opening night on Friday, May 27th. Twitter tweeted Tuesday that it is indeed working on a way for users to edit their 280-character messages, although it says the project has nothing to do with the fact that edit-function fan Elon Musk was just revealed as the company’s largest shareholder and now sits on its board. Twitter said it will test the feature in its paid service, Twitter Blue, in the coming months. It said the test would help it “learn what works, what doesn’t, and what’s possible.” So it may be a while before most Twitter users get to use it, if they ever do.
