Rush members Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson have honored Taylor Hawkins following Friday’s tragic passing of the Foo Fighters drummer. Hawkins had a close bond with the legendary prog-rock band over the years, as he, Dave Grohl and producer Nick Raskulinecz even dressed up as ’70s-era Rush to perform “2112” at the latter’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2013. Perfume Genius Announces New Album Ugly Season and Short Film
Perfume Genius will release a new album, Ugly Season, on June 17 via Matador. Mike Hadreas, who is currently on tour, enlisted the visual artist Jacolby Satterwhite to create an accompanying short film. The album comprises songs Perfume Genius wrote for his immersive dance piece with the choreographer Kate Wallich, The Sun Still Burns Here, which played in several American cities in 2019. (Two songs from the piece, “Eye in the Wall” and “Pop Song,” were released that year and feature on Ugly Season.) Blake Mills produced the album, and Hadreas’ longtime partner Alan Wyffels also contributed. Prince Estate Announces Chicago Exhibition
Prince: The Immersive Experience will debut in Chicago on June 9. The exhibition will feature 10 rooms modeled on aspects of Prince lore, including a working reconstruction of Paisley Park’s Studio A, a walk-in recreation of the Purple Rain cover art, and “an audiovisual dance party designed by Prince’s lighting designer Roy Bennett,” according to a press release. The Prince Estate teamed with Superfly for the exhibition, which charges $39.50 entry. It is due to run until October 9. The Prince Estate has recently been embroiled in a trademark dispute with Minneapolis funk mainstay (and longtime Prince associate) Morris Day, who claims the estate has barred him from continuing to operate under the name Morris Day and the Time. Colombian police believe the death of FOO FIGHTERS drummer Taylor Hawkins could be related to drugs. The 50-year-old musician was found dead in a hotel room at the Casa Medina in Bogota on Friday (March 25).
