SLASH Says He Loves Recording And Touring More And Has More Passion For It Now Than He Did When He Started

Ahead of the release of SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS‘ new album, titled “4”, Slash was asked by Lou Brutus of HardDrive Radio if he still gets excited in the same way as he used in the lead-up to a new record. The guitarist responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “Oh, yeah. I’m a headcase. I probably love this more and have more passion for it even now than I did when I started. It’s something that just is sort of my lifeblood. And a lot of it has to do with the fact that I just love playing, and any kind of vehicle that helps me to be able to achieve that, to be able to play all the time… And the thing about touring is that, for me, is really the best place for me to learn how to play guitar. I can do it at home, but I real...

Resentment is Always Seismic — a final throw of Throes – NAPALM DEATH

RATING: 9.5/10 Countless, revered extreme music acts release their best efforts at the onset of their existence, oftentimes just three albums deep. NAPALM DEATH, however, is aging like a fine wine. The grindcore progenitors released one of their best releases 16 albums into the act’s career with 2020’s “Throes of Joy in the Jaws of Defeatism”. The Birmingham bruisers are now poised to release a follow-up mini-album, “Resentment is Always Seismic — a Final Throw of Throes”, and it’s clear that the seasoned veterans are on top of their game and as exciting as ever. “Resentment Is Always Seismic…” is essentially a partner recording to “Throes of Joy in the Jaws of Defeatism”. The SLAB! Cover, a stand out, was a bold choice, and...

EVANESCENCE’s WILL HUNT On Filling In For TOMMY LEE On MÖTLEY CRÜE Tour: ‘There Was An Immense Amount Of Pressure To Pull It Off’

In a new interview with Darren Paltrowitz, host of the “Paltrocast With Darren Paltrowitz”, EVANESCENCE drummer Will Hunt reflected on the experience of filling in for Tommy Lee at several MÖTLEY CRÜE shows a decade and a half ago. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I knew certain songs that I had played or that I grew up practicing in my room. But then they were playing a two-and-a-half-hour set ’cause that was kind of the first reunion. And there were some deep tracks and deep cuts on there that I hadn’t really explored or ever played; like ‘Louder Than Hell’ was one of ’em. I love that song, but I never pulled it apart. I’d never played ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’ or ‘Wild Side’, both of which had really...

His death occurred less than a month after his brother and fellow musician Jimmy Johnson died at the age of 93. Syl Johnson was born in Holly Springs, Mississippi in 1936. He r...

Why We’ll Never Stop Talking About NBC’s Smash

An important thing to remember about Smash is that when it premiered, 10 years ago today, the NBC musical drama was supposed to be capital-G Good. We’re talking “awards contender” Good. “All star cast” Good. “Executive produced by Steven Spielberg” Good. Sadly, that didn’t ultimately align with what we got, which was two seasons of the messiest yet ultimately most fascinating broadcast drama of the 2010s — maybe even the 21st century so far. The thing about Smash is, if it had been a total failure, it wouldn’t still occupy space in our mental real estate. But there were just enough glimmers of good TV, aligned with some moments of pure brilliant camp and what is legitimately a top-tier original soundtrack, to ensure its place in television history. Perhaps you missed Smash when it original...

HHW Gaming Review: ‘Sifu’ A Brilliant, But Extremely Challenging Quest For Revenge

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Sloclap / Sifu It’s a new year, and another brutal “roguelike” has arrived on PS4 and PS5 consoles. Instead of being stuck in an endless time-loop on an alien world like in Housemarques brilliant game Returnal, Slocap has us on a quest for revenge in its unique beat’em up adventure, Sifu. We break down if Sifu lives up to the hype that it has garnered since its announcement. In Sifu, you take control of a young student (male or female) who embarks on a quest to avenge the death of his/her father at the hands of Yang, whom you looked up to as a brother. The game opens with a prologue where you control Yang, also serving as a brief introduction to the game mechanics that will see you take down the Sifu’s (master) students before delivering the fatal bl...
