Lady A Band and Singer Settle Lawsuit Over Shared Name

Lady A (the band formerly known as Lady Antebellum) have settled their lawsuit with Anita “Lady A” White over use of their shared name. The parties filed a joint request for dismissal to a judge in a federal Tennessee court yesterday (January 31), Pitchfork can confirm. Terms of the settlement have not been disclosed. Pitchfork has reached out to representatives for Lady A and Anita “Lady A” White for comment and more information. The Nashville country band changed its name in June 2020 amid the racial-justice reckonings happening around the murder of George Floyd. Coachella has announced a new partnership with cryptocurrency exchange FTX to auction off lifetime passes to the festival as NFTs. Dubbed the “Coachella Keys Collection,” it includes 10 one-of-one NFTs that grant lifetime festival access and VIP on-site experiences for the 2022 edition of Coachella, including front row access to the Coachella Stage, onstage access at the Sahara Tent, and dinner by a celebrity chef. A controversial NFT marketplace has drawn the ire of many in the music industry and creator economy at large. Legions of musicians are taking to social media to condemn HitPiece, a platform allegedly minting and selling music NFTs without artists’ knowledge. According to HitPiece’s website, the marketplace “lets fans collect NFTs of your favorite songs.” However, it’s unclear whether or not the company has acquired the rights to the songs and gone through the necessary channels to publicly list them on its platform. Jon Zazula, the legendary founder of Megaforce Records, has died at age 69. Sadly, his passing comes just one year after the death of his wife, Marsha, who co-founded the iconic metal label with her husband. According to Variety, a rep for Megaforce confirmed that Jon Zazula passed away on Tuesday (February 1st) in Florida, where he was surrounded by his brother, daughters, and granddaughters, as well as a number of friends and associates.
