Bono and The Edge Perform Unplugged ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday’ With Updated Lyrics

U2 singer Bono and guitarist The Edge posted an unplugged, emotional version of their iconic 1983 song “Sunday Bloody Sunday” over the weekend. In the four-minute clip, the two rock icons stand side-by-side in a spare recording studio as they harmonize on the chorus to the song from their War album that chronicled the Jan. 30, 1972 incident in which British soldiers shot unarmed civilian protesters in Derry, Northern Ireland; 26 people were shot by the soldiers, with 14 killed. Mike Alexander Named General Manager of Island Records

Universal Music Group veteran executive Mike Alexander has been named the general manager of Island Records, the label announced today (Jan. 31). Based in New York, Alexander will report to new Island co-CEOs Justin Eshak and Imran Majid. Hargus “Pig” Robbins, a Country Music Hall of Fame member and renowned session pianist who played with the likes of George Jones, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and many more, has died. He was 84. Robbins passed away on Sunday (Jan. 30), the Country Music Hall of Fame confirmed. In a statement from the Country Music Association, CEO Sarah Trahern wrote, “Hargus ‘Pig’ Robbins was a defining sound for so much of the historic music out of Nashville. His talent spoke for itself through his decades-spanning career and work as a session pianist with countless artists across genres.
