Omar Apollo has delivered a music video for his hit single “Evergreen.” Included on the crooning singer’s debut LP Ivory, which dropped in April, Apollo uses the track to reflect on his self-image in the wake of a broken relationship. Following its initial release, the laid back “Evergreen” received a sped-up version. He also performed the song on NPR’s Tiny Desk. Directed by Rubberband, the visual begins with Apollo pushing together set walls to create a makeshift room. Inside, he solemnly sits on the floor, leaning against a wall. As the video goes on, Apollo explores the room before it gradually begins to fall in on itself. Panels from the ceiling crash to the floor and dust flies in through an open window. Content in his misery and observing the destruction around him, Apollo saunters ...
Toronto rapper DijahSB has announced a new EP called Living Simple. The six-song project drops February 10th, while new single “Khadijah” is out now. Living Simple is tightly intertwined with Living Single. The EP’s name is a play on the ’90s sitcom’s title, while “Khadijah” is a reference to Queen Latifah’s character on the show, whom DijahSB’s mother loved so much that she named her child after them. Best of all is the project’s cover, which utilizes that nostalgic cartoon font. Check it out below. Understandably, the song “Khadijah” deals with the loneliness of living single, but the person Khadijah avoids self pity with a laid back, amiable beat. “I be at the crib like Khadijah/ Wondering if I will ever find somebody out here who’s a keeper,” the artist raps. It seems Elon Musk may have been a little “hurt” by Trent Reznor’s decision to quit Twitter. The billionaire owner of the social media platform responded by calling the Nine Inch Nails frontman a “crybaby” despite being a fan of his music. Reznor deactivated his account on Sunday (November 20th), shortly after telling The Hollywood Reporter in an interview that Musk’s takeover of Twitter has been an “embarrassment,” while adding, “We don’t need the arrogance of the billionaire class to feel like they can just come in and solve everything.” Musk, responding to a tweet by “Catturd” that read, “48 hours since @elonmusk reinstated President Trump’s Twitter account and the world still hasn’t ended,” wrote, “And it turns out that Trent ‘nine inch nails’ Reznor is actually a crybaby.” Advertiseme...
Twenty-five years ago, 20th Century Fox released the fourth Alien film, and with it brought its once-lucrative franchise to a screeching halt. Yet, despite the fact that Alien Resurrection is maybe the worst of the four original Alien films, it’s probably the one I’ve seen the most times. I keep coming back to it, over and over, as a fascinating mismatch between writer and director that, on paper, should have been legitimately amazing. I keep wanting to understand it. Every time, I fail. But I still come away fascinated by the sheer fact of its existence. Resurrection features the fourth (and to date final) appearance of Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley, who we originally met as a humble space trucker in the first Alien, before she became one of the galaxy’s sole living experts on the terr...
Sullivan King recruited a mammoth of a collaborator for his new track. Coming soon to Monstercat is Thrones of Blood, King’s third album. In preparation for the next chapter of his saga, the metalcore-electronic producer has shared a new album single, “Let Me Go,” with help from dubstep star Wooli. The duo’s second collaboration finds the gargantuan melodic bass of Wooli weaving seamlessly with King’s larger-than-life vocals. The uplifting track combines an emotional plea from King with festival-grade melodic bass. Giving into both of their dark sides, they then build up to a pulverizing bass drop that instantly teleports us from the mainstage to the middle of a mosh pit. Elohim and MEMBA have teamed up for a new collab, “Mirrors,” a dancefloor heater with a hypnotic blend of swirling synths and distorted sound design. “Mirrors” encapsulates an introspective ethos as Elohim and MEMBA challenge their inner selves and images against reality. The track’s visualizer further illustrates this theme via a trippy audiovisual with contorting images of rave scenes. “When I wrote ‘Mirrors’ I was picturing a dialogue with a different version of myself,” Elohim said in a press statement. “Talking to her, shaking her up, and telling her to wake up. It always feels like a trip when I’m speaking with my inner self, then flash—back to reality like I’m coming down off medication.” “For us, ‘Mir...

Lewis’ vocal contributions to the intricate song are mesmerizing and lend to an attention-grabbing indie-dance stunner. Tails’ production throughout the climax, on the other hand, is uplifting as nostalgic atmospheres and groovy percussion take over. Take a listen to “hope that’s ok?” below. Scr...
