Traversing through a storyline of epic proportions while uniting a slew of musical influences, PsoGnar has released his debut album, Fate of Gnarnia. PsoGnar curates melodic and heavy-hitting arrangements that grab listeners’ attention within seconds. His artistic expression extends far beyond music production, however, with his unique skillset as a singer-songwriter allowing him to tell engaging stories that live within his own sci-fi universe. Fate of Gnarnia comes alongside a stunning album trailer created by acclaimed designer Zhixo, using Unreal Engine 5. In PsoGnar’s own words, Fate of Gnarnia is less of a debut album and “more of a magnum opus.” The project spans across 12 vibrant songs that are as captivating as they are intricate. Rap Song of the Week breaks down all the hip-hop tracks you need to hear every Friday. Check out the full playlist here. This week, Ice Spice follows her viral hit “Munch (Feelin U)” with “Bikini Bottom.” This summer, Bronx rapper Ice Spice turned New York drill (and TikTok) on its head with her viral hit, “Munch (Feelin U),” a playful track featuring the incredibly catchy hook, “You thought I was feeling you?/ That n***a a munch.” At the surface, she seemed to be rapping about using a guy for sex, but “munch” eventually became a catch-all term for someone who’s corny or a loser. Unsurprisingly, Drake (who would probably admit he’s a munch) gave Ice Spice a co-sign, and so did Cardi B. After that, the 22-year-old rapper showed she could hang on fellow Bronx breakout B-Lovee’s pos...

Dolly Parton is attempting to reunite former bandmates Robert Plant and Jimmy Page to work on her cover of “Stairway to Heaven.” The former Led Zeppelin stars came together as Page and Plant in the 1990s, and last reunited in 2007. But in a new interview with Pollstar, Parton expressed a hope that she could get both of them on the same track for that rock and roll record she’s been talking about ever since her nomination for the Rock Hall of Fame. “When I got nominated, I thought, ‘Why not just go ahead and do it while the iron’s hot?’” Parton said of the album. “Maybe have some of the greats, the legends of rock ’n’ roll sing along with me. I’m gathering all that stuff and notifying a few people.” Advertisement Related Video Asked about her past covers of rock songs, she said, “...
Sure, Danny Elfman has soundtracked a lot of family-friendly movies in his day, but that doesn’t necessarily means he wants your kids to come to his performances. For his Halloween gigs at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl on October 28th and 29th, the prolific composer has one request: Please, leave your kids at home. Elfman recently told Variety that, while his Bowl performances will pull heavily from his epic Coachella set earlier this year, he plans on dedicating more of the set time to his 2021 solo album Big Mess — which is decidedly not G-rated. “I just keep saying over and over, leave your kids home. This is not a kids’ show and this isn’t a family show,” Elfman clarified. “This isn’t The Nightmare Before Christmas. The Coachella show had a bit of Nightmare Before Christma...

Universal Music Group on Thursday reported its fifth-straight quarter of revenue gains since its public spinoff from Vivendi last year, increasing revenue 13.3% as its many, varied business divisions helped offset slow-downs in areas sensitive to global economic uncertainty. On a call with analysts, UMG chairman and chief executive Lucian Grainge attributed the company’s strong quarter — coming amid a downturn in the advertising market — to its diversification strategy. Over Grainge’s 17-years at the helm, UMG has built dominant positions in multiple geographic markets and across nearly every major segment in music, making it less susceptible to “the inevitable ebbs and flows in revenue of any particular business,” he said. That helped UMG offset a slowdown in ad-supported streaming revenu...
