Adidas Cuts Ties With Kanye West, Citing “Hateful and Dangerous” Comments
Adidas has ended its partnership with Yeezy, saying Kanye West’s recent comments, which include antisemitic outbursts and white supremacist taglines, “have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous.” The company said it “does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech,” and that it would “terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products, and stop all payments to Ye and his companies.” The statement estimated a short-term cost to Adidas of €250 million, or about $246 million. Paramore and Blink-182 will headline the inaugural Adjacent Music Festival, taking place on New Jersey’s Atlantic City Beach on Memorial Day weekend (May 27-28) next year. Others on the three-stage festival’s bill include New Jersey natives Bleachers and Thursday, as well as Turnstile, Japanese Breakfast, Mannequin Pussy, PUP, Jeff Rosenstock, Coheed and Cambria, Jimmy Eat World, Idles, the Linda Lindas, Wheatus, Phantom Planet, and more.
