Kacey Musgraves gave cheers to Beto O’Rourke’s ongoing Texas gubernatorial campaign during her headlining set at weekend two of Austin City Limits 2022 with a beer delivered by the candidate himself. According to the Houston Chronicle, Musgraves queued the Democratic candidate mid-set by saying, “Honestly, I could use a drink. Is there any beer or anything out there?” Beto slowly approached from side-stage, presented a beer to the singer, and stood patiently as she took a few sips. He then waved to the audience, took the bottle, and returned backstage before the crowd had worked up an audible chant of his name. “That really hit the spot,” said Musgraves in an apparent endorsement for the candidate after he left the stage. Lil Uzi Vert surprised his fans with the release of his brand new single “Just Wanna Rock.” Clocking in at just a little over two minutes, the track — which was initially teased on TikTok — hears Uzi play with his bars atop ’70s synths straight out of a thriller/slasher film and a pulsating bass drum, giving the rapper the sonic space to be more dynamic and experimental with his sound. “Just Wanna Rock” follows his Red & White EP from earlier this summer, but was not confirmed whether it will appear on his highly-anticipated P!NK album. Stream Lil Uzi Vert’s “Just Wanna Rock” on Spotify and Apple Music, and stay tuned for more info on P!NK. HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Cole Burston / Getty The Canadian urban music delegation has opted out of an appearance at the Grammy Awards for a second year in row. According to Page Six, Drake and The Weeknd will not be attending nor have they submitted music for award consideration. The two artists who have also been collaborators have both previously expressed their discontent with the Recording Academy and the awards process. In 2021, The Weeknd decried the snub of his mega-hit album, After Hours with a statement to The New York Times that read, “Because of the secret committees, I will no longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammys.” The Recording Academy’s voters are music industry insiders who apply for membership with an application and several referenc...
On Friday (October 14), more than a dozen artists sued the legendary Chicago house label Trax Records, the estate of its co-founder Larry Sherman, and its current owners Screamin’ Rachael Cain and Sandyee Barns, reports Rolling Stone. Those suing—a list that includes Trax Records co-founder Vince Lawrence, Marshall Jefferson, Adonis, and Maurice Joshua—allege the label owes them unpaid royalties and, in some cases, failed to pay certain artists anything at all. A copy of the lawsuit obtained by Rolling Stone describes Trax’s early years as a “shell game” that involved forged signatures, bounced checks, and shoddy accounting. According to the lawsuit, “Plaintiffs may elect to recover statutory damages and are entitled to the maximum statutory damages available for willful infringement...
Kanye West has reached an agreement in principle to buy the social media platform Parler, The New York Times reports, citing a news release from Parler’s parent company, Parlement Technologies. The platform, which arose in the wake of Trumpism, brands itself as a free-speech haven, railing against censorship on mainstream social media. West’s Twitter and Instagram accounts were recently restricted amid a spate of antisemitic posts and public statements. In the news release, West said, “In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves.” He and Parler expect to finalize the agreement in principle later this year. This past weekend, West appeared on the YouTube series Drink Champs and repeated more ant...
This show in London is hands down one of our best of the year. We presented Vulture Prince in all its bold, sexy and sad glory. The audience was large in number, wild with excitement and exclaim, diverse as could be, appropriately hushed and moved, rowdy and laughing… all the things we love Vulture Prince to be. Performing with Anoushka is an incredible honor, and at times I was close to tears to be witnessing it happen at all! A night for the books for sure.

Watch a teaser video for the shows below. Last year, Elfman performed a similar live-to-film version of The Nightmare Before Christmas with Billie Eilish singing as Sally, which was livestreamed. Back in August, Elfman released the new LP Bigger. Messier., a collection of remixes based...
