King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are releasing three albums this month, and the first one, Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava, is out now. Listen to the project below. King Gizzard wrote Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava in the studio, assigning every song on the seven-track album a specific beats-per-minute value and a mode of the major scale. “We’d walk into the studio, set everything up, get a rough tempo going and just jam,” band leader Stu Mackenzie said in a statement. “No preconceived ideas at all, no concepts, no songs. We’d jam for maybe 45 minutes, and then all swap instruments and start again.” Even the album’s lyrics were a group effort, with the band utilizing a collaborative Google Doc for the writing process. Being back where she was born made for a particularly special night of Lizzo’s The Special Tour on Thursday (Oct. 6) in Detroit. The Grammy Award-winning singer was born Melissa Jefferson in the Motor City during 1988, and though her family moved to Houston when she was 10 years old she continued to visit regularly and still refers to it as home. Thursday’s show before about 15,000 fans at Little Caesars Arena was her largest concert there to date, following a co-headlining slot at the Mo Pop Festival during May of 2019. Depeche Mode Announce New Album, First Tour In 5 Years

Months after the death of founding member Andy Fletcher, Depeche Mode have announced a tour and new album.  The legendary electronic music group’s last album was 2017’s Spirit. The record was followed by their Global Spirit Tour, which grossed a whopping $202 million. The forthcoming album, Memento Mori, does not yet have a release date but it will be released on Columbia Records. Memento Mori will be Depeche Mode’s first album since the news of Fletcher’s death back in May. Charlotte de Witte has announced a new EP, Apollo, soon to be released on her very own KNTXT label. The techno superstar, who was recognized as one of EDM.com‘s best music producers of 2020, took to Twitter to make the announcement, adding that the EP will be available digitally and on vinyl. de Witte recently made history as the first woman to close out Tomorrowland‘s Mainstage, the most prominent stage at the world’s largest EDM festival.
