Prominent conservatives have spent more than a year trying to convince themselves that Trump won the 2020 election, so it’s no surprise that the fictional, morally-gray world of Breaking Bad presents an intellectual obstacle course. After Albuquerque, New Mexico erected statues of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, Republican politicians, regional talk radio hosts, and now Fox News have tried to frame this mildly amusing tourist trap as a capital-T Threat to America. The statues were commissioned by Sony Pictures Television without the aid of taxpayer money and unveiled at the end of July. Democrat mayor Tim Keller touted the $400 million in production fees and tourism dollars that Breaking Bad had already invested in the Albuquerque community. “While the stories might be ficti...
While they’ve mended fences before, the Kid Cudi seems adamant that he’ll never again be friends with Kanye West after their most recent public fallout in February. In a new cover story for Esquire conducted back in June, Cudi said it would take a “motherfucking miracle” for them to patch up their relationship. After initially declining to speak about West for the interview, Cudi let off steam about being cut from Donda 2 solely due to his friendship with Kim Kardashian’s now former boyfriend Pete Davidson. “Do you know how it feels to wake up one day, look at your social media, and you’re trending because somebody’s talking some shit about you?” Cudi said. “That shit pissed me off. That he had the power to fuck with me that week. That he used his power to fuck with me.” He...
The Vietnam War was not known for an excess of intellectualism, and Zac Efron’s character definitely has more beer than brains in the new trailer for The Greatest Beer Run Ever. It premieres September 30th in theaters and on Apple TV+. This retelling of a true story stars Efron as John “Chickie” Donohue, a Marine Corps veteran who in 1967 decided to support the troops in Vietnam by bringing them some well-shaken lukewarm brewskies. The trailer shows the moment of inspiration inebriation when he reached the decision in a bar in New York. As anti-war protestors march across a black-and-white television, the barkeep, played by Bill Murray, moans, “Do these protestors not know that our soldiers see that on TV? I’d like to go over to Vietnam, track down all the boys from the neighborhood, ...
Quavo has finally revealed the reason behind Takeoff‘s absence on the Migos hit “Bad and Boujee.” A recent teaser for the newly-revived Rap Radar podcast shows Quavo and Takeoff sitting down with hosts Elliot Wilson and Brian ‘B.Dot’ Miller. Wilson asks Takeoff why he didn’t appear on the No. 1 hit, and Quavo chimed in to explain that “it was just timing” as they had a lot to deal with it while getting music out fast. He shared, “We was just trying to get something out. We was actually pissed off because we ain’t have no music out. I think like a couple months before that whole little wave and we was going through the litigation with 300 [Entertainment], so we ended up leaking ‘Bad and Boujee’ on SoundCloud first.” Quavo added that he wasn’t even supposed to be on “Bad and Boujee” as well,...
After dropping her sophomore album, it’s clear Megan Thee Stallion was influenced by electronic music. With the help of “Savage” producer Whethan, who is credited on the album’s ninth track, Traumazine is a breath of fresh air for the chart-topping rapper. She leans heavily into dance music at times, blending electronic elements with her signature, sexually charged lyricism. The album’s fifth track, “Her,” is a standout. In true Meg nature, the arrangement kicks off with bravado before being swept up by a driving house rhythm. The accompanying music video features monochrome multiples of the rapper dancing along to the track’s thumping bassline. In a recent appearance on the Workout the Doubt podcast, the prolific producer admitted that he was worried about being called a “sellout” for teaming up with the NFL, especially following the criticisms the league received about Colin Kaepernick. “I was absolutely concerned about that,” he said. “I actually called a couple of close friends and said, ‘Listen, I’m gonna pull out. I’m not gonna do the show. Because I don’t know if I want that smoke. I don’t know if I want the backlash after doing the show and potentially looking like a f*cking sellout or something like that.’” He added that he hopped on a phone call with Nas for 10 minutes, who managed to reason w...
Swizz Beatz and Timbaland have filed a $28 million USD lawsuit against Triller, the acquirer of the pair’s music competition series VERZUZ.
