Weezer Cancel 2022 Broadway Residency Due to “Low Ticket Sales,” Rivers Cuomo Says
In June, Weezer announced a six-night Broadway residency to celebrate the release of their four-EP Sznz project. But now roughly one month before the residency was supposed to begin, the band are no longer moving forward with their Broadway shows, as Exclaim and Brooklyn Vegan point out. Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo broke the news to fans on the band’s official Discord server, where he wrote (as viewed by Pitchfork): I just learned that our Broadway shows have been cancelled (due to low ticket sales and unbelievably high expenses.) Missy Elliott Honored With Street Name in Her Hometown
Missy Elliott has been honored in her hometown of Portsmouth, Virginia on Tuesday when the city council unanimously approved a citizen’s request to name a street Missy Elliott Boulevard, WTKR reports. “I am forever GRATEFUL,” Elliott wrote on Twitter. It’s a section of McLean Street between Airline Boulevard and Greenwood Drive. It’s a section of the city that includes Woodland Park, the Portsmouth campus of Tidewater Community College, Victory Crossing Shopping Center, and the future site of the Portsmouth Rivers Casino. In potentially bad news for your wallet, you’ll have to shell out a bit more soon if you want to keep watching Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ without ads. Disney is hiking the prices of ad-free subscriptions in the US this year, coinciding with the launch of its ad-supported version of Disney+. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Disney+’s ad-supported tier will launch on December 8th and cost $7.99 a month — the same price the ad-free tier is now. As a result, the ad-free tier will then jump up to $10.99 a month or $109.99 a year, equalling a $3 monthly increase or $30 yearly increase. Meanwhile, beginning October 10th, Hulu will raise prices for all its subscribers.
