Damon Albarn is not exempt from having opinions about Taylor Swift, and he’s certainly not shy about sharing them on the record — even if they’re unfounded. In a new interview with the Los Angeles Times, the Gorillaz/Blur frontman aired his grievances about the “All Too Well” singer, incorrectly griping that she “doesn’t write her own songs.” Update: Swift has responded in a scathing tweet, prompting Albarn to issue an apology on his personal Twitter. See their responses below. The topic came up when Albarn was asked about his show at Los Angeles’ Walt Disney Concert Hall, where he’ll be playing songs from his new solo album The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows on just piano and strings. “It’s actually quite hard, doing a whole concert on piano,” Albarn explai...
The people have spoken: Cardi B was the victim of an Invasion of Privacy. Today (January 24th), a federal jury ruled that a woman’s YouTube videos and social media posts about Cardi B were, in fact, defamatory, ending a two-week trial and awarding the rapper a cool $1.25 million. Born Belcalis Almánzar, Cardi B sued Latasha Kebe in 2019 over a “malicious campaign” to tarnish her reputation. Kebe posted dozens of videos about the rapper with accusations ranging from the unfortunate to the unsavory, including that she had cheated on her husband, that she had contracted herpes, and that she had “fucked herself with beer bottles on fucking stripper stages.” In a trial that kicked off January 10th in Georgia, Cardi said she felt “suicidal” over the videos, proclaiming that “only an evil person ...
Neil Young has relaunched his crusade against Spotify, though this time, it’s not about audio quality. The rock veteran has asked the streaming giant to remove his music from the platform, citing “fake information about vaccines” the company has allowed to spread. Young delivered the request in an open letter to his management and record label, though the letter seems to have been removed from his website. Per Rolling Stone, however, Young writes: “I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines — potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them. Please act on this immediately today and keep me informed of the time schedule.” “I want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform,” You...
Remaining relatively open to the media, Kanye West recently sat down with Jason Lee for Hollywood Unlocked. In the new interview, Ye speaks candidly about a variety of headline news related to him. The 45-minute long conversation sees the normally enigmatic artist offer more insight into everything going on in his life. Touching on his public feuds, Ye denied that the Free Larry Hoover benefit concert with Drake was designed to be a Verzuz-like set up. Noting that the Canadian artist wrote his setlist and that they almost wore matching Off-White™ x Air Jordans designed by Virgil Abloh. Moving on to share that he still has “love” for both Big Sean and John Legend despite recent comments made. Ye then touched on his recent physical altercation, clearing things up, saying that the pers...

Dr. Dre wants to know who is worthy of facing Eminem in a rap battle, and Swizz Beatz has the answer. The prolific hip-hop producer took to social media over the weekend to share a video of Eminem rapping the last verse of his 2020 hit “Monster,” adding the caption, “Marshall Mathers vs Who???!!” The simple question received almost 20,000 comments as of writing, and while some pointed out that no one can go against Eminem, Swizz Beatz threw one hat into the ring: Busta Rhymes. Nothing is officially set up for VERZUZ, however Busta has been a favorite in the community for some time now. In October 2021, Crazy Legs revealed that Busta told him that five rappers have turned down his invite to face him off in VERZUZ. Fat Joe also admitted that he could not take on Busta’s catalog, stating, “Pe...
